At the occasion of IBC 2008, S4M – Solutions for Media presents its new studio production tool for the first time: “ClipJOCKEY” supports the daily processes carried out in TV control rooms and production houses and supports migration into a file-based environment.
ClipJOCKEY represents a new device corresponding to a scope of features that amongst many others is provided by S4M’s Video Production Management System VPMS.
The difference: As a real stand-alone solution ClipJOCKEY focuses on existing core workflows in control rooms as well as in (post-) production houses and covers the special needs of TV broadcasters and production companies regarding ingest and playout functionalities.
On the one hand, (analogue) video content can be encoded – that means digitized and imported from tape to video server – in a very easy way. Especially for production companies this is an important first step towards a file-based environment. On the other hand, the content can be played out from the video server to distribute the material on tape or to manage a TV broadcaster’s whole playout process without tapes, which is most important for control room staff. ClipJOCKEY turns the video server into a multi-channel production tool and controls up to eight server channels and two VTRs from just one application. This implies the playout of TV reports – controlled by a MOS-enabled newsroom system – as well as program accompanying elements such as trailers.
