LOS ANGELES, CA — (Marketwire) — 10/28/11 — The Boy Scouts of America, Los Angeles Area Council, will hold its inaugural Good Character Gala on Tuesday, November 1st at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. One of the highlights of the dinner will be the keynote address by Allan (Bud) Selig, Major League Baseball Commissioner. Mr. Selig-s remarks will be about Character, Leadership and Values. The Scouts are expecting over 600 guests.
The dinner has been created to raise funds for Scouting in Los Angeles, and celebrate the creation of the Council-s Hall of Fame awards. These awards will recognize four outstanding individuals who have demonstrated exemplary character, leadership, compassion and generosity in their personal and as well as their professional lives. The Council will recognize this first group of inductees for their hard work, determination and the spirit that characterizes Scouting.
Donald W. Crocker: Past Council President & VP Asset Committee; Chairman Emeritus – J.E. Robert Companies. Mr. Crocker is also an Artist. Resides in Palos Verdes, CA.
Rita Illig Liebelt: Immediate Past Council President & VP; President & CEO of Illig Construction Company. Resides in Glendale, CA.
David S. Meshulam: Past Council Commissioner & VP Planned Giving & Endowment; Partner at Meshulam Financial. Resides in Encino, CA.
Robert F. Scoular: Past Council President & VP of General Counsel. Founding managing partner of the LA office of SNR Denton LLP. Resides in Palos Verdes, CA.
The Honorary Chair for the dinner is John C. Cushman III, Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield. Mr. Cushman is a past national board chair of the Boy Scouts of America. The event co-chairs are Bill Barrett, President of Fiduciary Trust Company and Eric Olofson, Vice Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield. The event has a very prestigious guest list, including sports figures, baseball owners, public officials and prominent corporate executives. Tickets for the event start at $250.
