Presentations to include standards liaison reports from First Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security, People-s Republic of China

Committee reports to come from Communication, Technical and Technical Services groups

ONVIF leaders will provide updates to member companies on key 2012 initiatives

ONVIF, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that it will hold the ONVIF 2011 annual meeting Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Shenzhen, China. This annual gathering will provide a forum for ONVIF-s 340 member companies to hear about key initiatives for 2012 and details of ONVIF-s technical roadmap.

The morning-s highlight will be a keynote address from a representative of the First Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, People-s Republic of China, who will update ONVIF members on the work of the TC100 committee of the Standardization Administration of China. SAC/TC100 develops and administrates the national technical standard for the Chinese security industry. Ms. Chen Chaowu, deputy director of the First Research Institute, also the deputy director of SAC/TC100, will provide an overview on existing technical standards for video surveillance systems, including China-s Surveillance Video and Audio Coding standard (SVAC), and new standards under development within SAC/TC100.

Systems integrators attending the meeting will hear a second keynote address from Anixter-s Matt Powers, Technical Director of Security Solutions, on the benefits of incorporating the ONVIF specification into security projects and how the specification can be a business driver for integrations.

“With two successful interoperability demonstrations and the release of an application programmer-s guide and new test tools, 2011 has been very productive and successful year for ONVIF,” said Jonas Andersson, Chairman, Steering Committee for ONVIF. “Our initiatives for 2012, including the release of our physical access specification, are just as ambitious — to continue to eliminate the barriers of interoperability between IP devices and educate the market about what is possible with the ONVIF specification.”

As of October 2011, ONVIF membership had grown to more than 340 companies, with nearly 1,180 conformant products available in the market. To learn more about ONVIF, please visit .
