LOS GATOS, CA — (Marketwire) — 10/12/11 — SuVolta, Inc., a developer of scalable low-power CMOS technologies, today announced that it has received the EuroAsia IC Industry Award for Start-Up Company of the Year. The award was presented to SuVolta at SEMICON Europa 2011 in Dresden, Germany.
The prestigious award recognizes the significant contributions SuVolta is making to the semiconductor industry challenges of power consumption and scaling. SuVolta-s Deeply Depleted Channel (DDC) CMOS technology simultaneously solves both problems — providing a path to the next generation of semiconductor devices while cutting the power consumption of any transistor by 50 to 80 percent (or more).
“We are honored to receive this award which is further validation of the significance of our low-power technology,” said Bruce McWilliams, president and CEO at SuVolta. “It underscores the need for an easy-to-adopt and cost-efficient device technology for the microelectronics industry and the mobile market.”
SuVolta-s DDC device technology and PowerShrink low-power planar CMOS platform, reduces IC power consumption by 50 percent or more while maintaining circuit performance. The novel DDC transistor structure enables scaling (reduction) of two of the most critical transistor parameters — scaling of supply voltage, and scaling of transistor size to 20nm node and smaller — yet it remains compatible with existing fabrication facilities and design technologies.
David Ridsdale, Editor in Chief of EuroAsia Semiconductor, said, “We have been running the IC Industry Awards for many years and our history of Start-Up Award winners continue to reflect the increasing opportunities and changing dynamics in the semiconductor industry. The selection committee was impressed with SuVolta-s vision and leadership in addressing fundamental challenges faced by the microelectronics/IC design industry.”
