A further subsidiary of the Deutsche Telekom Group is now working with the German security specialist
Hamburg, Germany. 17 October 2017 – Starting in October Makedonski Telekom, as a part of Deutsche Telekom Group since 2001, will be safeguarding its mobile customers from online threats by providing them with user-friendly and powerful baseline protection. The solution is based on the cloud security service from the German company Secucloud.
Following a call for tenders early this year, Makedonski Telekom selected Secucloud. According to Makedonski Telekom representatives, there were several factors they found convincing, including the speed and ease of integration as well as the fact that Secucloud was already being used successfully at other subsidiaries of the Deutsche Telekom Group. With Secucloud’s cloud-based security solution, Makedonski Telekom will also be able to offer their customers centralised protection from online dangers, without users needing to worry about installing or updating any software.
Optimal combination of security functions
Makedonski Telekom is planning to make the service available to its customers from October onwards. Users with a mobile contract will be able to use it free for a test period, and will then be able to add it to their existing service contract by paying a monthly fee. The service will be based on Secucloud’s Advanced Security Suite, which protects mobile internet users from online threats like viruses, Trojans and other malware by detecting and removing them before they reach the user’s smartphone. It automatically routes all internet traffic from apps, browsers and background processes through Secucloud’s Elastic Cloud Security System (ECS2), where it is checked for damaging content using a combination of powerful security mechanisms. These include anti-phishing, anti-malware, anti-bot, anti-hacking and anti-anonymiser tools. If the solution detects any threats, it blocks the harmful data packets automatically, offering users comprehensive protection while they use the mobile internet.
Dennis Monner, CEO von Secucloud, notes: “Cyber-criminals follow the money. Mobile devices, sales of which are still showing impressive growth rates, are naturally in their sights. That’s why it’s so important for telcos to be able to offer their private customers an easy and efficient way of protecting themselves against harmful content.”
