Quortus joins CBRS Alliance to bring edge intelligence to private cellular in 3.5GHz band

Camberley, UK 9 February 2017 – Quortus today announced it has joined the CBRS Alliance, the organization dedicated to developing, marketing and promoting LTE-based solutions utilizing the shared spectrum of the US 3.5GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band. As a member of the Alliance, Quortus will play an active role in helping to realize the full potential of this band through the delivery of cellular core network software that meets the specific requirements of private cellular system ‘owners’.

Quortus has developed and commercialized cellular core software since 2009 in 2G, 3G and LTE technologies, with a specialization in providing intelligence at the network edge. The work of the CBRS Alliance reflects a broader global trend towards the use of LTE and other cellular technologies in shared and unlicensed spectrum: a trend which Quortus is driving through its deployment-proven infrastructure solutions.

Private cellular is one of the key service models enabled by the use of licensed, license-exempt or deregulated spectrum, enabling a variety of innovative services for organizations and individual users. Quortus’ virtual core network solutions power a breadth of applications including IoT; private voice and data; roaming voice and data; and others. Quortus software can run on any hardware platform, and is scalable from tens to tens of thousands of connected devices. The company’s products are designed to be flexibly adapted to specific and often non-standard requirements.

The CBRS Alliance presents an opportunity to enable economic LTE deployments in the 3.5GHz band, including neutral hosted mobile networks, private cellular (including IoT) and fixed wireless access (FWA). The Alliance is working to establish an effective product certification program for LTE equipment in the 3.5GHz band, ensuring multi-vendor interoperability – while providing an industry platform for discussion and innovation in this approach to spectrum allocation.

Quortus’ solutions for CBRS, shared and unlicensed operation, and private networking, will be on show at the company’s booth (Hall 7, 7C72) at Mobile World Congress (Fira Barcelona, 27 February – 3 March).
