UC Point: New cloud service for videoconferencing with Skype for Business and room systems of Cisco and other providers

Cologne, September 26th, 2016. UC Point, a global provider of Unified Communication & Collaboration and Office 365 services, is introducing a new interoperability solution to considerably increase user experience during video conferencing sessions. UC-Interop seamlessly connects conferencing platforms and devices from different providers with Microsoft Office 365 and Skype for Business. Unlike conventional bridging solutions, UC-Interop enables participants to join meetings with a single click and enjoy significantly improved bandwidth consumption. In addition, users benefit from the same native content sharing feature – regardless of the conferencing platform being used. UC Point is offering UC-Interop as a Managed Service with modular support options in an affordable pay-as-you-need licensing model.

The importance of online meetings as an integral part of business communications in the modern workplace continues to increase. According to a recent study, Gartner Group predicts the usage of video conferencing will grow by 400 per cent by 2019. The greatest challenge IT managers face is accomplishing the integration of various collaboration platforms and devices – all from different vendors. In addition, conferencing room systems, which are generally attributed with a considerable investment, need to now interface with modern solutions such Microsoft Office 365 and Skype for Business.

UC Point is now offering a simple, affordable, and worldwide Microsoft Office 365 certified solution for conferencing platforms – regardless if they are hosted on premise, hybrid or in the cloud. UC-Interop allows users from established platforms, such as Avaya, Cisco, Lifesize, and Polycom to join Skype for Business meetings in a single click. UC-Interop does not require IT Administrators to perform any additional installations and the server capacities of the conferencing units are optimally utilized. This is a significant difference to conventional bridging solutions that otherwise require more time, resources, and technical effort to establish a connection between different conferencing systems.

With the launch of this new interoperability service, UC Point is actively supporting the in March 2016 announced “Project Rigel” von Microsoft. With Project Rigel, Microsoft wants to open their systems for 3rd party integration in an effort to engage more customers with Skype for Business. UC-Interop is the first cloud-based, platform-independent and Microsoft certified solution on the market. Devices from various conferencing providers can be easily and seamlessly connected with Skype for Business. The new interoperability service from UC Point is available to customers in a complete package with worldwide 24/7 support for Skype for Business.

Markus P. Keller explains why the new interoperability service meets all expectations of a universally deployable collaboration solution: “Thanks to a single click-to-join and native content sharing functions, participants can easily attend online meetings and enjoy a first-class audio, video and collaboration experience. After joining the meeting, users navigate their familiar conferencing layout, thereby maintaining a high user adoption. An uncomplicated pay-as-you-need licensing model enables IT Managers to flexibly size their services based on demand. All of this is possible from a single, highly-scalable, interoperable platform. This truly enables every user to successfully connect to an online meeting with Office 365 and Skype for Business from any video endpoint and platform.”
