APOLAN Brings Popular Passive Optical LAN Seminar to BICSI Fall Conference 2016

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 09/07/16 — The Association for Passive Optical LAN (), a non-profit organization that drives both education and adoption efforts for Passive Optical Local Area Network (LAN), will host a two-day seminar session on Sept. 12-13 on the “Fundamentals of Passive Optical LAN” at in San Antonio Texas.

Aimed to educate cabling design, installation, and IT professionals, the two-day seminar will deliver an overview of the value, architecture and advantages of Passive Optical LAN (POL). It will take a deeper dive into designing and installation guidelines, including specifications for hardware currently available in the industry. The event will include hands-on exercises on Passive Optical LAN design principles and full-time attendees will receive 12 BICSI Continuing Education Credits (CEC).

This seminar comes at a key point when Passive Optical LAN is being recognized as the future of networking technology. In December, the Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) released an independent , declaring “POL is here to stay.” It forecasted a double-digit growth rate for the market and highlighted this “disruptive” technology–s numerous advantages. This includes significant reductions in “capital expenditure, operational expenditure, and with them the total cost of ownership of the IT infrastructure.”

“This seminar is a great opportunity to develop a well-rounded understanding of the how Passive Optical LAN is the answer to bringing added security, high availability and reliability to a network, while ensuring lower operation and capital expenses,” said Thomas C. Ruvarac, President and Chairman of the APOLAN. “Learning the ins and outs of this future-proof technology is an essential step for those who want to stay on the cutting edge in an industry that is showing tremendous growth.”

Fiber-based optical networks are the next generation of enterprise LAN infrastructure. It provides the simplicity, scale, and bandwidth to address current and future needs, while minimizing the requirement for costly cabling and equipment upgrades. It delivers capital savings and ongoing operational savings over a traditional copper-based LAN.

Passive Optical LAN is also a more sustainable alternative to copper-based LANs by providing significant energy savings. It is the optimized means to deliver voice, video, data, wireless access, security, and high-performance building automation.

Beyond the seminar, APOLAN members will also be available at the BICSI Fall Conference booth #511 to meet and offer additional expertise on this topic.

The Association for Passive Optical LAN is a non-profit organization that is driving adoption and educating the market about the technical and economic advantages of passive optical LAN technology. Through its membership, which is comprised of manufacturers, distributors, integrators and consulting companies actively involved in the marketplace, the Association hopes to help designers, engineers, architects, building owners, CIOs and IT departments implement and successfully use passive optical LAN.
