SHANGHAI, CHINA — (Marketwired) — 09/01/16 — At HUAWEI CONNECT 2016, Huawei announced the release of its Agile WAN Solution for the customers of enterprises. Using the cloud architecture to restructure WANs, the Agile WAN 2016 offers a series of solutions for Data Center Interconnections (DCI), integrated transport, IP hard pipes, and the all-optical campus. These solutions meet the new challenges of the cloud architecture in terms of bandwidth, latency, and efficiency for cloud connectivity, industrial-grade cloud pipes and cloud access networks. The restructuring of DC-centered agile WANs will enable all cloud services for the new ICT of enterprises.

As cloud services become more widely used, global data center traffic has seen explosive growth. It is estimated that data center traffic will reach 10.4 ZB (Zettabytes) by 2019, and Ovum RHK has indicated that 83% of worldwide network traffic will be through data centers. The deployment of WANs focused on cloud services also creates new challenges: first, low latency is at the core of a good cloud service experience. In the financial industry, for example, a delay of only 1ms can cause losses of US$4 million. Second, low network utilization results in excessive ICT construction costs and must therefore be avoided. Third, resources must be schedulable so that they can respond immediately to cloud services; this puts increased requirements on traffic bursts.
The Huawei Agile WAN 2016 Solution uses the cloud architecture to restructure WANs. The solution creates agile WANs that are simple and secure and ensure low latency. These WANs overcome the three major bottlenecks of bandwidth, latency, and efficiency.
Restructuring cloud connectivity networks with the Huawei SDN-based DCI Solution provides high-bandwidth, low-latency, efficient DCI and cloud-based network resource migration. Bandwidth can be adjusted on demand and routes are optimized intelligently. In the solution, data centers use innovative OXC devices that do not need to connect to external fibers. These devices overcome the limitations of traditional electrical cross-connect switching: switching capacity is increased to 320 Tbit/s per device while power consumption is reduced to 1/1000th that of traditional devices.
Restructuring industrial-grade cloud pipes with the Huawei Integrated Transport Solution integrates service bearing through the unified switching platform for TDM and packet services, supplemented by built-in technical solutions such as PCM and 2 Mbit/s ASON that can be highly customized for different industries, and isolates production services through hard pipes to ensure secure, low-latency bearing. In addition, the Huawei All-IP Solution bases the soft plane on statistical multiplexing, thereby providing flexible, efficient service bearing. Huawei–s innovative IP hard pipe technology isolates a hard plane on the IP network, providing dedicated pipes to ensure reliable, low-latency bearing for key services.
Restructuring cloud access networks with the Huawei POL Solution replaces Ethernet with optical fibers to create enterprise LANs. PON-based POL networking provides a simple two-layer network architecture, reducing occupied space in active aggregation equipment rooms by 90%. Users can more conveniently experience cloud services thanks to the simplicity, high bandwidth, and multi-service capability of these new optical campus networks.
At the Huawei Agile WAN 2016 Launch Event, Xingyun Zeng, chief marketing officer for Huawei–s Fixed Network Product Line, said: “The future world will be a fully connected world. Digital transformation will be applied to various industries and moving services to the cloud is the mainstream trend. Network connections, as the basis for full connectivity and digital transformation, will be the key production resources to enterprises. The Huawei Agile WAN 2016 Solution focuses on building new ICT infrastructure through restructuring DC-centric WAN networks. Huawei is devoted to innovating with partners in an open ecosystem and providing better solutions for enterprises– clients in the cloud era.”
Huawei is committed to the strategy of being integrated and places great importance on open technology and an open ecosystem. By constructing an open test lab and network platform, collaborating in innovative technology and solution development, and establishing industry alliances, Huawei has shown its dedication to creating and improving solutions together with its partners. These solutions have been put into practice in the ISP, power, and transportation industries and support enterprise clients in constructing new ICT and moving services to the cloud.
HUAWEI CONNECT will be held August 31 to September 2, at Expo Center, Mercedes-Benz Arena, and Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. It is an integrated conference for the global ICT ecosystem with over 15,000 industry leaders gathering to envision a Better Connected World and the digital transformation of industries.
