Coding Dojo and Microsoft Collaborate to Offer .NET Core Training Class

BELLEVUE, WA — (Marketwired) — 08/18/16 — , a pioneer in the coding bootcamp space, today announced that it is expanding its roster of full-stack training programs with an ASP.NET Core class created in collaboration with Microsoft. Coding Dojo–s class provides a comprehensive, structured program to teach the entire .NET Core stack in a high level of detail.

Microsoft released at the end of June 2016. While .NET has long been popular in the enterprise, it was traditionally for Windows environments only. The new .NET Core is open-source, cross-platform and optimized for applications that are born in the era of always on, cloud services that are communicating with mobile devices. Because of this, the .NET platform is now applicable to more scenarios and a broader base of developers who utilize open source in their web stacks. This in turn creates an immediate need for training in this area.

“Now that .NET can run on anything from a Raspberry Pi to a giant cloud-based application that is relied upon by millions of customers, developers have a whole new world of possibilities available to them,” said Martin Woodward, executive director of the .NET Foundation. “Training courses like Coding Dojo–s are an essential part of introducing developers to the amazing open-source.NET community. Coding Dojo–s experience in practical coding education made them an ideal choice to bring .NET Core to new developers.”

“Coding Dojo already offers the widest range of full-stack training classes in the coding bootcamp industry, and our ASP.NET Core class will widen that gap,” said Martin Puryear, lead instructor at Coding Dojo. “Existing C# / .NET classes are based on the previous generation, except for a few shorter online-only offerings. In our immersive onsite bootcamp we work hard to strike the right balance — not too shallow, not too narrow — making ours the only course to fully prepare a student to work across this entire software stack.”

The ASP.NET Core class will initially be taught on-site at Coding Dojo–s Bellevue, Wash. campus as one of the six stacks offered in its standard 14-week bootcamp. Students pick three of the six stacks to learn. A beta course will be offered in September 2016 and the first official class will begin in October 2016. The class will be available at additional Coding Dojo campuses and as part of Coding Dojo–s online program in 2017.

The course materials will cover the C# language and several elements of the .NET Core framework including ASP.NET Core. Since .NET and C# are commonly used in large enterprises, this class will be especially useful for students with open-source experience who want to transition into positions with larger enterprises. Roughly a third of all websites use .NET for its high speed and scalability, including MarketWatch, Dell and StackOverflow.

Coding Dojo and Microsoft are collaborating on additional programming courses, including on edX that kicks off on August 22. Instructors from Coding Dojo and Microsoft are also teaching “” and “” through the Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA), which provides free online training to help IT professionals build their skills and advance their career. Additional Microsoft and Coding Dojo developed MVA courses covering Ruby on Rails and PHP will be launched in late 2016.

Coding Dojo is one of the in the industry, and the only coding bootcamp in the world to teach three full technology stacks in a single 14-week program. Since 2012, Coding Dojo has helped individuals from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels transform into professional developers who go on to be hired by start-ups and world-class like Expedia, Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, DocuSign and Skytap. Coding Dojo has campuses in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Silicon Valley and Washington D.C. The company is one of the fastest growing startups with recognition in rankings like the GeekWire 200. Go to to learn more.
