MADRID, SPAIN — (Marketwired) — 08/17/16 — Information Builders, a leader in (BI) and analytics, data integrity, and integration solutions, today announced that the Spanish Inspectorate of Labor and Social Security (ITSS), under the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, has optimized its data management capabilities with the . As part of its Athena project, ITSS used WebFOCUS to implement inventory control procedures that increase employee efficiency and boost the accuracy of inventory data.
ITSS has offices in all provinces of the Spanish state, and its agents are constantly on the move. IT personnel needed a systematic way to allocate computer equipment, manage software, assign IP addresses, and maintain up-to-date records about the status of all hardware and software assets. To achieve these objectives, they launched the Athena project to automate the entire lifecycle of managing devices: from purchasing and supplier management to delivering equipment to users.
“Based on our previous experience with Information Builders, we knew their technology would simplify the process of accessing a large volume of inventory data and presenting it through intuitive dashboards,” said Pilar del Olmo Henche, head of technical services at ITSS. “WebFOCUS is easy to connect to many types of databases, which was an important factor in this project.”
Today, approximately 100 people within ITSS provincial delegations, as well as at headquarters, depend on the Athena application to allocate equipment, initiate maintenance projects, and monitor usage through real-time dashboards. The Athena user base includes administrative staff members (central services managers, provincial coordinators, and secretaries) and technical staff members (personnel in the user support center). Each user sees custom views of the information according to his or her role, with information divided into five main areas: records, devices, users, reports, and scorecards.
“Athena has delivered a broad range of benefits in two critical areas: efficiency in extracting information, which affects user productivity, and increased confidence in the reliability of the data,” Henche added.
The Inspectorate of Labor and Social Security (ITSS), a department of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security (MEYSS), ensures that companies and their employees comply with the rules of social order, while also administering advice and information about labor and social security to organizations and their workers. The General Sub-Directorate of Information Technology and Communications develops software applications to monitor the work of labor and social security inspectors and employment sub-inspectors. This subdirectore also maintains the computer platforms that support the ministry–s efforts.
