RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL — (Marketwired) — 08/01/16 — TIM Brazil held a media conference to demonstrate cloud-based 4G VoLTE and VoWiFi services. This is the first debut of NFV-based 4G HD audio and video communication in South America. Its success coincides with the opening of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games two weeks from now.
TIM Brazil is the second largest mobile operator in Brazil, serving 75 million subscribers. To improve the communication experience for the Rio Olympics, TIM Brazil alongside Huawei utilized cutting-edge technologies to optimize its 4G network. After improving network coverage, TIM Brazil utilized the Huawei CloudCore solution to deploy NFV-based VoLTE and VoWiFi services. This will effectively deal with traffic surges that may occur during the Olympic events. Subscribers will have access to high-speed Internet through the 4G network. Additionally, the network offers VoLTE, VoWiFi, and ViLTE services. Users will enjoy 4G HD audio and video calls with instant call connection and seamless handover.
With experience deploying more than 80 cloud-based commercial networks globally, Huawei deployed the CloudCore solution in just 6 months. The deployment included CloudIMS, the universal E9000 hardware, and FusionSphere-OpenStack Cloud OS. This remarkable deployment has made Rio de Janeiro the first city that is capable of offering NFV-based VoLTE and VoWiFi services in South America.
Vice President of Huawei Brazil, Huang Hailin, said, “Collaboration with TIM Brazil to upgrade the telecom infrastructure has been an honor. Using a variety of advanced technologies, we have ensured communication during major events and prepared the networks for voice and data traffic surges. We also offer Key Event Assurance services developed using cutting-edge methodologies. We will continue to support TIM Brazil with its transition into the 4G era. Together we will build a better connected world.”
