Hohenstein-Ernstthal, July 28, 2016 – Z-Wave Europe GmbH, biggest Z-Wave distributor in Europe, announces that the new Smart Home Gateway of the company Popp & Co is ready to ship. Z-Wave Europe is the world’s first partner, who offers the new Z-Wave Gateway.
Last autumn the traditional electronic company already announced his first HUB as a control center for the connected home. The new generation has nothing in common with the first generation of the Popp HUB besides the name. While the old one was completely based on the Raspberry platform the new Popp HUB owns a completely own hardware platform. The flat casing and the modern design make the Popp HUB one of the world’s smallest and most compact smart home gateways. The smart home center is equipped with a WIFI adapter and Z-Wave, which connects, monitors and controls the smart devices in the connected home. The user has the free choice if he wants control the devices by mounted switches, remote controls or mobile devices with the free iOS and Android App from home or on the way.
The Popp HUB was developed to give the user the highest flexibility and offers the possibility to integrate other technologies like EnOcean over a USB Port besides the integrated technologies like Z-Wave and WIFI. With the running Middleware „Z-Way“ – the first Z-Wave Plus certified Z-Wave control software – the user can connect and automate devices of different technologies with the Popp HUB. The „Z-Way“ version modified for the Popp HUB is easy and fast to install. Furthermore, all the users have access to the Z-Way Developer and User Community. A smart home app store launched by the beginning of this year is available to all users of the Popp HUB. The store offers many applications, which can be used to manage and customize an own automated home. That makes it even easier to integrate and use already existing scenarios in the Popp HUB immediately. Programming own scenarios becomes unnecessary.
A major distinguishing feature of the Popp HUB is the full support and monitoring of all Z-Wave commando classes. With that feature every Z-Wave product can be included to the Popp HUB and the user can decide by himself, which of the commandos from sensors and actors he would like to use. While most Z-Wave gateways need an integration of these sensors and actors by the manufacturer, the user is able to control random Z-Wave products immediately.
The development of the Popp HUB, which was mainly accomplished in Germany, was focused on easy handling and a solid security architecture. Because of that the HUB counts to the safest smart home gateways worldwide.
Additionally to the control of the Z-Wave components the Popp HUB is able to manage IP-cameras, other IP based devices and services with plugins. Besides it is possible to define different scenes and automations via the Web UI. Because of the integrated WIFI adapter the HUB is able to function as a router and extends the range of a WIFI network.
Popp as a company has a long tradition in the German electronics sector and counted to one of the pioneers of the European smart home market in 2008. Now Popp owns many other innovative devices besides the HUB. Those devices can be included in the smart home – even with other Z-Wave gateways.
The new Popp HUB is available now for a MSRP of 149.
