SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/29/16 — , the leader in analytics-driven flash storage, today announced that , a Managed Care Organization that manages mental health, substance use and developmental disability services in North Carolina, has deployed to support a major consolidation project, saving the company time, space, and more than $250,000 in costs.
Trillium had its hands full when the agency was forced through a consolidation between East Carolina Behavioral Health (ECBH) and CoastalCare. The company had to consolidate applications and infrastructure across two disparate data centers.
Trillium approached , the agency–s trusted solution provider, to assess its current IT environment and provide strategic design recommendations. After a thorough assessment, the agency decided to add more capacity to its VNX arrays and expand the virtualized environment to maximize flexibility and cost savings within the data center.
“We had to make sure our storage could handle the additional data required when our organizations went through consolidation last year,” said Patrick Hinnant, Trillium–s technology director. “We had just purchased EMC storage two years ago, so all new flash arrays were not likely. With PernixData FVP, VNX arrays added the capacity we needed while using inexpensive SSDs for performance. When it was all done, our hardware expenditures were over $250,000 less than they would have been.”
In addition to major cost savings, Trillium experienced significant performance improvement in Microsoft Dynamics A/X. While latency used to be as high as 90ms, average latency is now under 1ms. Additionally, more than 248 million I/Os were offloaded from Trillium–s shared SANs.
“Given that Trillium–s key responsibility is connecting individuals and families to the help they need, when they need it, a seamless transition was crucial to our daily activities,” concluded Hinnant. “We made all of the changes to our server, computer and application environments in less than seven months and while there were a lot of moving parts, PernixData was a key factor in this amazing feat.”
