CUPERTINO, CA — (Marketwired) — 05/25/16 — , Inc., an innovator in Security Operations technology, today emerged from stealth mode as the first company to offer an intelligent security bot that promises to revolutionize the way security operations are conducted. Demisto–s technology provides the integrated experience that security operations teams have lacked to automate the incident response processes and reduce manual documentation and investigation tasks.
With today–s exit from stealth mode, Demisto also announced the general availability of Demisto Enterprise, the industry–s first platform to automate and streamline security operations and bring greater collaboration to incident management processes.
Demisto–s novel approach, as outlined in a separate product launch announcement released today, has enabled the company to raise its $6 million Series A round of funding from top-tier venture capital firm Accel, and security industry luminaries, including Cylance Founder, President and CEO, Stuart McClure; Lookout Co-Founder and CTO, Kevin Mahaffey; and Blue Coat President and COO, Michael Fey. The new funding will be used to expand sales and marketing efforts, and to grow partner ecosystem integrations.
“The Security Operations Center is supposed to be the brain of the security organization yet the tools used to empower this organization are disjointed,” said Jake Flomenberg, a partner at Accel who joins Demisto–s board as part of this investment. “Demisto brings a unique and fresh approach to this problem by combining collaboration and automation to allow security analysts to do their job more efficiently and effectively.”
“Today–s security organizations, while reacting to the modern threat environment, must deal with a large number of security alerts and globally distributed security teams,” said Gal Messinger, Head of Global Security, Philips Lighting. “The challenge is growing due to the fact that the borderlines between physical and digital security are blurred or sometimes not existing at all. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to be able to run the security operations with high efficiency and to foster collaboration among teams. Demisto–s approach of combining collaboration and automation into a single platform to manage the complete incident lifecycle is an innovative and promising one.”
Demisto was founded by an experienced team, each member holding executive positions in companies both large and small. The team set out to address the biggest pain point facing Security Operations teams — the ever widening security talent and skills gap combined with the lack of automation across security tools. After exploring how areas such as IT operations and DevOps are solving similar issues, the Demisto team realized that building the industry–s first chat-driven, bot-powered interface for security would best address these problems.
“We are on a mission to make the life of security operations analysts productive and impactful while helping scale scarce security talent for our customers,” said Slavik Markovich, Demisto co-founder and CEO. “We are already hearing from our early customers that a ChatBot-based approach to automating security operations, documenting entire incident lifecycle, and enhancing collaboration goes above and beyond security automation to create a better security operations center for them.”
Demisto was founded in July 2015. In addition to CEO Slavik Markovich (formerly of Intel Security, McAfee and co-founder and CTO of Sentrigo), the founding team includes: VP of Marketing, Rishi Bhargava (formerly of Intel Security, McAfee and Solidcore); VP of Products, Dan Sarel (formerly of Intel Security, McAfee, Sentrigo and Check Point); and VP of Engineering, Guy Rinat (formerly of Intel Security, McAfee and Sentrigo).
Demisto helps Security Operations Centers scale their human resources, improve incident response times, and capture evidence while working to solve problems collaboratively. is the first comprehensive, Bot-powered Security ChatOps Platform to combine intelligent automation with collaboration. Demisto–s intelligent automation is powered by DBot which works with teams to automate playbooks, correlate artifacts, enable information sharing and auto document the entire incident lifecycle. Demisto is backed by Accel and has offices in Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv. For more information visit or email .
