Orlando, FL (U.S.) – Bohemia Interactive Simulations, a global developer of simulation software, and its partners will demonstrate a highly immersive close air support training exercise using VBS IG, BISim’s image generation solution, showcasing richly detailed geo-specific terrain created using TerraTools from TerraSim, a BISim company, at ITEC 2016 in London, May 17-19, at stand #E110.
VBS IG is a highly capable and cost-effective development framework used to create image generation solutions. Using VBS IG, system integrators can develop differentiated solutions with a modular and extendable C++ development framework and plugin API architecture.
VBS IG reduces risk as well as saves time and money by providing the industry’s most advanced and configurable visual technology. VBS IG leverages the massive VBS3 model library of game-quality 3D content which contains almost 10,000 models.
“Attendees will see our high-performance image generation software, VBS IG, that provides high fidelity game visuals for military training,” said Steven Jedlicka, VBS IG Product Manager. “The demonstration features seamless integration of VBS3Fires FST for indirect fire and close air support simulation.”
VBS IG fully supports multi-channel operation, which will be demonstrated on the booth using Barco projectors in a 6-channel configuration driving a 3-meter dome provided by Immersive Display Solutions Inc. VBS3, configured as a simulation host, will support the tactical environment and communicate with the IG using the CIGI standard. VBS3 is the standard in game-based desktop simulation for tactical military training and mission rehearsal, and is by far the most widely used simulation software among Western militaries today.
Close Air Solutions, a UK-based training consultancy, designed the scenario and will run the demonstration. Close Air Solutions instructors will simulate a strike on a group of opposing forces transporting heavy weaponry using multiple air assets.
CAS instructors will call for strikes through a simulated targeting pod provided by Simcentric Technologies’ VBS3Fires FST, an immersive Call-For-Fire and Close Air Support training simulation. VBS3Fires FST provides the highly detailed exterior ballistics models, high fidelity terminal ballistics models, semi-autonomous AI-guided aircraft, and stunning and highly detailed visual representation of air delivered munitions in VBS3.
