London, 13 April 2016 – Interoute, owner operator of a global cloud services platform and one of Europe–s largest networks, has today announced that it has been named Best Cloud Service Provider at the UK Cloud Awards, one of the leading awards in the UK cloud IT market. Interoute received this acknowledgement at the awards ceremony hosted at Skylon, London on the 12th April 2016. To claim the award Interoute was up against the other shortlisted finalists Amazon Web Services, Claranet, iCloudHosting and Microsoft.
The judges recognised Interoute’s clarity of vision, approach and design of its cloud infrastructure platform. Most service providers offer compute, storage and network connectivity to customer sites in a siloed way, whereas Interoute has from the outset taken a different approach. The company vision was to create a fully integrated cloud infrastructure platform (fully IaaS, integrating compute and storage with public and private networking) built into the fabric of one of Europe’s largest network and Data Centre infrastructures. To achieve this, Interoute virtualised the network, compute and storage, to create a single, integrated digital platform, the networked cloud.
Matthew Finnie, CTO of Interoute, commented: “We are very proud to be named Best Cloud Service Provider by the UK Cloud Awards, which recognises excellence in the UK cloud IT market. In a competitive year for entries, I am delighted to see our team of engineers, developers and product specialists receive this acknowledgement for their excellent work. The award is testament to our ability to supports customer data, software, and digital services alongside existing legacy customer IT hardware on the Interoute Virtual Data Centre platform, enabling digital transformation and service creation for enterprises.”
The UK Cloud Awards, in their third year, celebrate innovation, entrepreneurialism and technical excellence in the UK cloud IT market. The awards showcase leading vendors, customers and individuals who are setting the benchmark for their peers. The awards have been assessed by a panel of judges, all of whom bring independence and expertise to the awards.
