œMotown the Musical” is the ultimate jukebox musical, packing nearly 70 top hit songs into just under three hours. The play tells the story of Motown Music–s founder, Berry Gordy, and his meteoric rise from boxer to one of the most powerful men in the music industry. The record company he founded launched the careers of such timeless superstars as Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and the legendary Diana Ross. Along the way, he established one of the most distinctive sounds in music history “ the Motown sound.
