SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 03/01/16 — , the security company for software developers, today announced the appointment of Eric Wittman, most recently the General Manager for the developer tools business at (NASDAQ: TEAM), to its Board of Directors. The announcement was made in conjunction with RSA Conference 2016, taking place this week at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Wittman was most recently responsible for driving the strategic direction of Atlassian–s award-winning developer tools, including Bitbucket, the company–s enterprise Git repository management software used by more than one-third of the Fortune 500. A 24-year technology industry veteran, Wittman has been involved in creating some of the industry–s most groundbreaking developer tools and ecosystems at Macromedia, Adobe and Atlassian.
“Today, every software development team is optimizing for speed. One of the major contributors to improved development speed is through the use of open-source libraries. However, this increased use of open source has led to –open season– for hackers when reused code contains vulnerabilities,” said Wittman. “SourceClear excites me because of their innovative, developer-centric approach to open-source security. This is why I–m joining the board and will be actively working with the amazing team to further fuel exponential growth.”
“Developers seek –go-to– tools that bring immediate value, and coexist harmoniously with the development tools, coding languages and team processes they rely on. Atlassian has established Bitbucket as one of those –preferred– developer tools,” said SourceClear Founder and CEO Mark Curphey. “Eric is a proven leader and creative force, and we welcome his expertise and strategic guidance as we look to rapidly expand and become software developers– security –tool-of-choice.–“
Designed to integrate seamlessly into modern development processes, SourceClear detects threats in millions of open-source frameworks and libraries throughout the entire software supply chain. Architected for developers, SourceClear secures open-source code by creating a real-time, open-source inventory, showing where components came from, who created them, what they are doing in applications, and the potential risks they introduce.
Unlike other approaches, SourceClear works inside a developer–s workflow and with a team–s existing tool-chain, enabling unprecedented visibility into third-party code risk. Combining an advanced data-science and machine learning platform with human research, SourceClear identifies open-source security issues at scale and speed, exposing new and previously undisclosed vulnerabilities, and offering clear guidance on remediation.
