BARCELONA, SPAIN — (Marketwired) — 02/22/16 — Funambol, the leading provider of operator platforms that power many cloud services, and RealNetworks® (NASDAQ: RNWK), a global leader in video sharing, today announced they are collaborating to bring RealTimes to Funambol–s mobile operator customers. Through the integration of RealTimes with Funambol–s personal cloud solution, mobile operators who license Funambol personal clouds will be able to provide their subscribers with the ability to watch, customize, and share engaging multimedia videos called RealTimes Stories.
RealTimes, which was initially released in May 2015, solves two of the biggest problems consumers face today: too many photos and videos, and not enough time to organize and share them. When used with Funambol, RealTimes automatically picks the best photos and videos from a user–s cloud account, or from their device–s camera roll, and instantly creates engaging RealTimes Story videos. It–s also easy and fast to customize RealTimes Stories by rearranging clips and photos, changing the duration, and adding filters and personal soundtracks.
“Offering RealTimes with Funambol is a major step forward in our effort to make personal clouds more engaging,” said Amit Chawla, Funambol CEO. “The added functionality will provide users with a fun and easy way to enjoy their personal media and see it come to life.”
The integration of RealTimes with Funambol offers an easy-to-use video and photo service on one of the industry–s best-in-class white-label personal cloud solutions. Funambol is licensing RealTimes to its mobile operator customers who can offer it to their subscribers. The combination of RealTimes and Funambol is designed to make personal clouds more engaging for end users and more valuable for operators.
“We are pleased to work with Funambol and offer RealTimes to mobile operators and their subscribers around the globe,” said Mike Mulica, president, worldwide sales and business development, RealNetworks. “The majority of consumers are using their smartphones to capture life–s moments. Our collaboration with Funambol will provide mobile carriers the ability to bring a best-in-class photo and video experience to their customers worldwide.”
RealTimes is expected to be available for Funambol in the first half of 2016. Funambol customers can contact Funambol for license details.
