GlobalSign Previews New Cloud Identity Assurance Service and GSMA Mobile Connect Capabilities at Gartner Identity and Access Management Summit

LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwired) — 12/07/15 — GMO GlobalSign (), a leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE), is today previewing its upcoming identity and access management (IAM) solution direction at the 2015 Gartner Identity and Access Management Summit. In the first quarter of 2016, GlobalSign will launch a new identity as a service (IDaaS) offering that acts as a globally trusted identity hub connecting national and commercial identity providers with providers of online services to offer cost-effective identity proofing and strong authentication. Additionally, with its core focus on Customer-Centric IAM, GlobalSign is now adding support for GSMA Mobile Connect enabling mobile network operators to become true identity providers and create new business opportunities.

“The digital business evolution is continually driving more changes with how organizations interact and conduct business with their customers and partners,” said Charles Sederholm, director of IAM business development, at GlobalSign. “Knowing your customers, convenient access and positive user experiences are essential to online business success and part of our Customer-Centric IAM approach. Our upcoming solution roadmap is addressing these core business fundamentals by offering a –one-stop-shop– for social and trusted identities and providing easier and stronger authentication using users– mobile devices.”

Digitalization of business, cloud services and the ever-increasing movement toward online solutions demands flexible, secure and convenient authentication solutions. With the GlobalSign Customer-Centric IAM solution supporting Mobile Connect and over 20 different authentication methods, mobile network operators can become identity providers for online commerce, banking and insurance, e-government, applications, Internet of Things, APIs, or anything digital that requires authentication of users or entities. GlobalSign is currently engaged in pilot programs with major global mobile network operators and the GSMA to demonstrate and deliver Mobile Connect capabilities.

In the first quarter of 2016, GlobalSign will launch a new cloud identity assurance service. As a hub for national (government eIDs) and commercial (banks, mobile network operators, etc.) identity providers, the GlobalSign IDaaS will provide a unique global marketplace of trusted identities. Providing this global marketplace of trusted identities is a cost-effective way to ensure a required level of trust for customers engaging in online transactions. The benefits of this GlobalSign service for online services, include:

Providing a single interface and streamlined process for delivering hundreds of millions of highly trusted identities

Reducing the cost and burden of verifying identities

Enabling multi-factor and step-up authentication and transaction confirmation for risk mitigation and regulatory compliance

Improving the user experience and supporting users to “bring your own identities” (BYOID)

Ensuring secure transactions and reducing the risk of online fraud

“There are many entities out there today that act as identity providers that may not think of themselves in that manner, such as banks, financial institutions, mobile network operators, and other commercial businesses. Each of these has invested significant time, money and effort in vetting the identities of their customers,” added Sederholm. “What makes GlobalSign truly unique in today–s market is its ability to enable these identity providers to monetize their identity assets, make conducting digital business more cost-efficient and the use of online services smoother for end users.”

Serving Finland, Sweden, and the Baltic countries, Viking Line is the market leading brand in passenger traffic on the northern Baltic Sea. Viking Line is currently using GlobalSign IDaaS to allow its passengers to use their bank identities for age verification and strong authentication when accessing the cruise line–s pre-order online shopping service.

“We launched our pre-order service for our cruise passengers who now have an option to buy items such as tax-free beverages containing alcohol before their journey starts. To enable these transactions, we needed to verify the passenger age in the online service,” says RenĂ© Engman, CIO, Viking Line Oyj. “The quickest and easiest way for us to do this was to integrate GlobalSign Identity as a Service to our online service, and now our cruise passengers can pre-order even controlled items before stepping onboard.”

GlobalSign provides a proven and highly scalable Customer-Centric IAM solution enabling effective and efficient management of customer and partner identities and what online services they can access. The solution is comprised of four IAM products, including GlobalSign SSO, GlobalSign CustomerID, GlobalSign Trust and GlobalSign Confirm. With extensible APIs and wide support for industry standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, WS-Federation), the GlobalSign IAM solution provides seamless integration with your existing online platforms, services and applications.

From December 7-9, 2015, GlobalSign will be presenting its Customer-Centric IAM solution and previewing its GlobalSign ID service and Mobile Connect support at the Gartner IAM Summit in Las Vegas. To learn more, visit GlobalSign–s booth (#110) or .
