REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwired) — 11/03/15 — Aricent today announced its collaboration with Xilinx to develop a programmable access point reference solution for the Xilinx Zynq®-7000 All Programmable SoC ZC706 platform, with superior levels of efficiency. The solution will enable original equipment manufacturers to add functional blocks in access point and time market advantage, owing to the reference solution–s built-in Controller and Access Point software.
Aricent has integrated its feature-rich WLAN Switching Solution (WSS) software on Xilinx–s industry-leading Zynq-7000, all programmable SOC ZC706 platform. The Aricent software runs on Zynq-7000 AP SoC ARM® Cortex® A9 series processors. The access point allows for programming of the data plane through Openflow. Its capabilities include service chaining the multiple FPGA-based functional blocks such as DPI, encryption/decryption, and hardware-accelerated malware detection. SDN-enabled functions at line rate enhance the performance and richness of the data plane.
“Aricent WSS software is a combination of the controller and access point functions. This unique software helps to connect multiple access points in cluster mode, where the controller software from one access point takes the management role and programs the rest of the access points,” said Pratyush Dasgupta, Vice President of Engineering at Aricent.
“Xilinx Zynq All Programmable SoCs combined with Aricent WSS software provides a differentiating platform for high performance SDN-based WiFi networks,” said Sunil Kar, Vice President of wireless communications at Xilinx.
