SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/23/15 — NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) CEO George Kurian, along with select leaders in Silicon Valley, will join Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for dinner and a discussion focused on India–s business and technology sectors. NetApp, through technology, incremental monetary investments, and corporate social responsibility programs, is proposing to support several Indian government initiatives, including but not limited to:
Digital India: States across India currently have separate cloud architectures. Through the Indian government–s Digital India campaign, data needs to be shared and managed across clouds, which results in the need for data portability and seamless delivery of data. The Data Fabric, NetApp–s vision for the future of data management, offers a solution capable of managing, moving, and protecting all the data across the hybrid cloud.
Digital Locker: Part of the Digital India campaign, Digital Locker aims to minimize the use of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across multiple agencies. NetApp values Digital Locker as another example of the Government of India–s vision to leverage technology for the benefit of its citizens.
Make in India Campaign: NetApp will unveil its newest office in Bangalore in the summer of 2016. With a 3,500-employee capacity, the approximately $165 million state-of-the-art facility will be a center of excellence to foster innovation in India.
Start Up India, Stand Up India: The NetApp Start-Up Accelerator Fund — which invests in equipment, facilities, knowledge, and personnel aiding Indian start-ups — already supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi–s “Start Up India, Stand Up India” initiative. The fund also supports the recently announced launch of the India Aspiration Fund, which aims to provide a much needed impetus to the start-up community in India.
Since 2003, NetApp India has grown into a formidable center of excellence and it is the biggest engineering site for NetApp worldwide. The company has offices throughout the country, including in Mumbai, Bangalore, and New Delhi.
