NEW ORLEANS, LA and CAMPBELL, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/22/15 — TuringSense, a wearable sports technology company, announced from the USPTA World Conference its official launch and development of its first product PIVOT, the most advanced wearable technology for tennis today. TuringSense is developing revolutionary wearable technologies using biomechanics, sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) to help athletes learn and master complex movements, avoid injuries and conquer the competition. Beyond sports, TuringSense–s vision is to build the perfect companion for physical therapy, insurance compliance, rehabilitation, posture correction and virtual reality/augmented reality and gaming.
“The sport of tennis, throughout its centuries-old history, hasn–t had the opportunity to fully harness the power of technology to elevate playing and training,” said Dr. Limin He, co-founder and CEO, TuringSense. “TuringSense believes that our cutting-edge technology — with pioneering biomechanics and injury prevention focuses — will pivot players to a whole new level, especially in technique improvement, injury prevention and performance evaluation. Most of all, we–re confident it will contribute to the exponential growth of the tennis industry worldwide.”
PIVOT, now in beta, is a multi-sensor, high-speed motion capture and analysis system designed to improve tennis playing, training and prevent injuries. Unlike other products that attach a single sensor to a tennis racquet, PIVOT uses wearable sensors and a data-driven approach to provide instant biomechanical feedback to enable players to master their swings on the court and guard against injuries without using wires or expensive cameras. This November, TuringSense will launch a Kickstarter campaign for PIVOT.
TuringSense was founded by serial entrepreneurs and seasoned leaders who are also technologists and advanced athletes. The co-founders are:
With over 25 years of experience, Dr. He was formerly Founder and CEO of Plato Design, which was acquired by Cadence. He subsequently became corporate VP of Cadence IC Digital Business Unit and Chairman of the China task force. He holds 10+ US patents.
Lim is an industry veteran with 27 years of management and technical experience. Formerly, he was part of the executive management team at Plato Design. He holds three US patents. Lim is an advanced Taekwondo practitioner.
: A system innovator, Dr. Chamdani was Co-Founder and CTO of Kickfire, acquired by Teradata and where he served as CTO of Emerging Platform Technologies. He was also Co-Founder, Chief System Architect, and VP System Integration of Sanera Systems, acquired by McData. He holds 46 US patents, with 35 patents pending. He is a former collegiate tennis player.
In addition to the expertise of the co-founders and growing team, TuringSense has partnered with top advisors in the field — tennis coaches, physical therapists, sensor experts — to better apply on-the-ground knowledge and best practices to their wearable technology. The company is backed by venture capitalists and angel investors with track records of backing successful wearable companies.
TuringSense will be exhibiting at Booth #601 during Thursday night–s Buying Show at USPTA.
TuringSense, a pioneer in wearable sports technology, is revolutionizing sports training through innovative multi-sensor, high-speed full-body motion analysis solutions. The company–s first product is designed specifically to improve tennis playing and training. TuringSense is planning future products for additional sports like golf and swimming.
