The ArcticLink 3 S2 enables a wide range of user-interactive applications
Delivers fully integrated hardware and software sensor processing platform
Reduces power consumption to extend battery life
QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the innovator of ultra-low power programmable sensor processing solutions, today announced that the company–s silicon platform, along with its associated library of sensing algorithms, have been designed into the new, award-winning JUMPY smartwatch for kids. The QuickLogic sensor processing solution provides a fully integrated hardware and software sensor processing platform for this new smartwatch from Taiwan-based startup Joyray. With this platform, Joyray delivers a wide variety of interactive applications and extended battery life that enables children, and their parents, to enjoy the benefits of wearable technology. The Jumpy smartwatch was awarded “The Grand Prize of the Jury” at the IDEAS Show 2015 startup battle which is a renowned competition in Asia.
Designed specifically for younger children, the JUMPY smartwatch relies on Bluetooth® and motion sensing technology to interact with other JUMPY, Bluetooth and iPhone devices. QuickLogic–s ArcticLink 3 S2 enables a number of gesture-activated features and functions, including a pedometer and unique gaming features. The JUMPY smartwatch features a variety of sensor-based interactive applications that help children learn on their own and through interacting with their peers and parents. Joyray also provides an open software development kit that allows third-party developers to introduce new apps on a regular basis.
“Joyray chose the ArcticLink 3 S2 to power the JUMPY smartwatch for its accurate pedometer measurements used to track a child–s varying levels of activity,” said Dr. Frank A. Shemansky, Jr., senior director of product management at QuickLogic. “By working closely with Joyray, we were able to develop new and highly accurate contextual awareness and gesture software optimized for children. We now include this software in our rapidly expanding SenseMe algorithm library.”
The Jumpy smartwatch, incorporating QuickLogic–s ArcticLink 3 S2 and the SenseMe algorithm library, is being manufactured by Foxconn and is available now. A video showing the smartwatch in action is available at:
