Huawei Deepens Its Investment in Linux and Open Source Software With Linux Foundation Platinum Membership

SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwired) — 08/17/15 — LinuxCon/ContainerCon/CloudOpen – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux and collaborative development, today announced Huawei is becoming a Platinum member of the organization. This is the highest level of investment at The Linux Foundation and signals Huawei–s increased commitment to Linux, open source and collaborative development.

Huawai is a longtime contributor to open source software and collaborative development and previously was a Gold member of The Linux Foundation. In addition to its active contributions to the Linux Kernel and KVM, Huawei is also a founding member of various Linux Foundation Collaborative Projects, such as OPNFV, Open Container Initiative, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, IO Visor and Kinetic Open Storage Project and contributor and member to CloudFoundry and OpenDaylight. The company has been at the forefront of new open technologies.

As a Platinum member of The Linux Foundation, Huawei will gain a seat on the Board of Directors and help guide the organization as the role of open source and collaboration increases in building new technologies. The company joins other Platinum members represented on the board that include Fujitsu, HP, IBM, Intel, NEC, Oracle, Qualcomm and Samsung.
