BEDFORD, MA — (Marketwired) — 07/15/15 — (EDB), the leading provider of enterprise-class Postgres products and database compatibility solutions, announced today that Mike Huseman has joined the company–s executive leadership team as senior vice president of global sales and business development. Huseman will report to CEO Ed Boyajian and is charged with leading the global expansion and optimization of field selling efforts.
EnterpriseDB has increased its ranks in sales and marketing by 57% in 2015 to support a surge in demand for its industry leading open source based subscription offerings. Organizations have discovered that the enterprise-class performance, security and stability of Postgres make it a powerful alternative to traditional vendors without the high costs. As a result, many of the world–s leading organizations, which have begun deploying Postgres for more and more workloads, are looking to EDB for support, database compatibility and enterprise capabilities included in EDB–s Postgres Plus subscriptions.
The experience of EDB is supported by the findings in a recent Gartner report on open source relational databases (OSDBMSs) that predict a steady increase in users. “By 2018, more than 70% of new in-house applications will be developed on an OSDBMS, and 50% of existing commercial RDBMS instances will have been converted or will be in process,” stated the report, The State of Open-Source RDBMSs, 2015.*
“As the market for Postgres expands and becomes more complex, EDB is expanding with it and adding the necessary talent and resources to remain aligned with customer needs,” said Ed Boyajian, CEO of EnterpriseDB. “With Mike Huseman at the helm, EDB is in an even stronger position to support the fast-growing demand for Postgres Plus as well as our existing customers who are deepening their use of EDB Postgres Plus products and services.”
Huseman brings over 25 years of enterprise class sales experience and leadership to EDB. He has devoted half of his career to building and leading early stage software companies. The other half, he has spent leading large, complex global sales operations at organizations like IBM and HP where he held global executive positions for the past 10 years.
“With the recognition of Postgres as a real alternative to traditional solutions, EDB is in a unique position to deliver measurable value to enterprises under pressure to realize greater value from their technology spend,” said Huseman. “I look forward to applying my background and experiences to scale the sales operations of EDB in order to meet the global demands of transforming the enterprise data center for the future.”
The enterprise-class performance, security and stability of EDB–s Postgres Plus subscriptions have provided enterprises around the globe with a competitive option to the high cost traditional vendors for most corporate workloads. In fact, Gartner positioned EDB as a Leader in the 2014 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems.*
