PHILADELPHIA, PA — (Marketwired) — 07/06/15 — PromptWorks, a Philadelphia-based consulting shop delivering customized web and mobile web applications, announced today that its client, Clean Markets, won the Commercialization Challenge conducted by the Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI) (), a consortium of research universities, industrial firms and national laboratories dedicated to creating pathways to energy reduction in existing buildings.
Leveraging PromptWorks– customized software development capabilities, Clean Markets developed the proprietary patent-pending Building Retrofit Investment Model (B-RIM), an online tool that provides a “business case” for investing in energy efficiency projects. B-RIM demonstrates the financial returns of potential energy investments, as well as financial returns under multiple financing scenarios. B-RIM beat out five other finalists out of an initial 200 energy efficiency software technologies that were developed throughout the U.S.
As the winner, Clean Markets will receive grant proposal support, mentoring services, and networking opportunities from the CBEI–s Commercialization Center. Clean Markets can submit the B-RIM business plan to the U.S. Department of Energy as a potential candidate for additional funding.
B-RIM is a web-enabled financial modeling tool used by building owners and energy service professionals to fully understand the financial returns that could be realized from an energy efficiency project–s implementation — without first needing to conduct an energy audit. B-RIM identifies options for financing the potential project. PromptWorks developed B-RIM using regression analysis to create statistical models to make predictions about savings from potential retrofit projects. PromptWorks and Clean Markets designed B-RIM to get more accurate over time.
