MINNEAPOLIS, MN — (Marketwired) — 07/01/15 — DigitalTown, Inc. (OTCQB: DGTW) today announced the launch of the DigitalTown media network, including new launch partners: Boxcast.com, MyLocker.net and Sport Ngin.
The much-anticipated launch of the DigitalTown media network has started, with currently 21,540 unique websites operating in the network, in time for the start of the 2015-16 academic year. The addition of these partners is consistent with DigitalTown–s approach of creating compelling user experiences that combine a proprietary portal design with technology and supply chain capability from best in class partners.
The agreement with Boxcast provides DigitalTown with a mature solution for video livestreaming and video warehousing for sports and performance events across the DigitalTown media network. The cost-effective solution brings state of the art technology for both ad-supported and pay-per-view livestreams to the network, and empowers any school to start delivering livestreams through the DigitalTown network.
Commenting on the Boxcast partnership, Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown, explained, “We believe livestream is about to go mainstream. Many of the competing solutions have setup costs that are an order of magnitude higher, and are harder to deploy than Boxcast. As a result, Boxcast is a great fit for our network. We look forward to supporting Boxcast–s efforts to become an industry standard in the high school livestream market.”
“Working with DigitalTown helps us enhance the fan experience on more teams– websites,” said Boxcast President Gordon Daily. “This alliance means we can deliver our TV-station-in-a-box to an even broader audience and allows us to build on DigitalTown–s presence in this market.”
The 5-year agreement with MyLocker.net will enable MyLocker.net supply chain solutions to power team stores across the DigitalTown network. Each of the stores in the network are now equipped with an easy to use team store for selecting on-demand apparel and gear.
“MyLocker is a great fit for the DigitalTown network. Robert Hake, Founder of MyLocker.net, has built a very solid platform that provides us with a single vendor solution for ordering, shipping and billing. Customers who take delivery on fan gear produced by MyLocker can expect great quality at a competitive price,” explained Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown.
Robert Hake, Founder and CEO of MyLocker.net, who was just named Entrepreneur Of The Year for 2015 by Ernst & Young, had this to say:
“MyLocker is very excited to be chosen to power online shops for Digital Town. We believe that Digital Town–s unmatched domain portfolio, plus it–s experienced management will prove to be a significant opportunity for both our companies.”
DigitalTown has entered into a marketing agreement with Sport Ngin whereby high school Athletic Directors that are seeking advanced solutions for management of their athletic programs can upgrade to solutions from Sport Ngin. If desired, these schools may continue to make integrated use of the domain name and related services from DigitalTown.
“Sport Ngin is clearly setting the pace for team management software. We deeply studied the market and concluded that the Sport Ngin platform is not only ahead, but pulling away from the competitive pack at an accelerating pace. As such, it became a logical choice to partner with Sport Ngin as a back-end platform solution,” explained Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown.
“We–re thrilled to work with DigitalTown and their partners to bring an incredibly robust suite of solutions to the high school athletic programs who are a part of the DigitalTown media network,” added Justin Kaufenberg, CEO of Sport Ngin. “For the past 7 years, we–ve worked with high schools across the country, and this is a great way to introduce Sport Ngin to so many more.”
