SAN MATEO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/26/15 — , the leader in networked crisis communication, today announced the AtHoc commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Shared Situational Awareness (SSA) technology was competitively selected to be an integral part of an integrated crisis communications solution in the 2015 Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Commander–s Challenge.
: AtHoc selected to participate in United States Air Force cross-agency #crisiscommunication technology demo:
The 2015 Commander–s Challenge gathered top young scientists, designers and engineers from across the Air Force to provide innovative solutions to address a complex challenge. The challenge focused on the ever-increasing threat of active shooter incidents. The goal: develop a “best-in-class,” affordable and scalable solution to facilitate an efficient and collaborative inter-agency crisis response.
The technology demonstration leveraged the currently deployed AtHoc ERCOP SSA solution, which provided a core collaborative platform and complemented an integrated state-of-the-art COTS infrared and acoustic shot detection system. These elements were also combined with a prototype incident visualization and awareness capability to provide the simulated Base Defense Operations Center with gunshot detection, incident alerting, geo-location and response team tactical reporting. These capabilities, which added to the existing AtHoc ERCOP Suite of SSA tools, delivered tremendous value for Emergency Responders who leveraged AtHoc–s integrated mobile-device to access driving directions, cordons, safe routes, personnel locations and pre-configured field reporting capabilities that are visible to multiple agency control centers and mobile emergency responders.
“Understanding the tactical details and having the ability to share situational awareness when responding to Active Shooter scenarios is crucial to successful incident response,” said Dave Silberman, AtHoc–s Program Manager for Emergency Management. “Providing tactical situational awareness with operational and affordable solutions that are deployable to the field today makes AtHoc a critical part of the mission to support a comprehensive installation Common Operating Picture. The deployment of the ERCOP solution today speaks volumes about the trust the USAF places in AtHoc innovation to provide its Emergency Responders with a tactical shared situational awareness solution.”
AtHoc is a fully-deployed in the USAF providing a complete networked crisis communication system that leverages existing hardware and notification systems, and consolidates current notification channels into a single entity to provide cost-effective utilization of existing communication abilities.
