Moogsoft Joins TM Forum Catalyst Demonstration of Big Data Driven OSS

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/02/15 — Moogsoft, the leading provider of incident early warning and collaborative remediation, today announced its participation in . In this demo, Moogsoft is collaborating with Cisco, KDDI, SevOne and Ontology to demonstrate how service assurance can be implemented as a Big Data pipeline. This Catalyst project will be demonstrated at 2015 held June 1-4, in Nice, France.

The Catalyst project aims to show how Big Data analytics and open software principles can be implemented to build an open OSS data platform across a multitude of data sources. This platform will expose the full value of the OSS dataset for managing the whole lifecycle of services that incorporate virtualized network and compute functions. Treated as Big Data problems, many OSS functions will be demonstrated through an end-to-end data flow — from data sources to data aggregation, and then to data analysis and distribution.

One of the key issues for supporting virtualized telco environments is the ability to understand when anomalous behavior is occurring and when those anomalies are impacting applications or services. The core value of Incident.MOOG here is patented technology to infer anomalies and identify the impact — all without any models or topology rules. This means identifying anomalies faster, understanding causal aspects (underlay or overlay), understanding which tenants are impacted, and the ability to notify customers of issues proactively.

“In the world of network function virtualization, software-defined networking and the Internet of Things, it is impossible to write and maintain thousands of rules to model the dynamic relationships of infrastructure elements,” said Ken Dilbeck, vice president of strategic programs at TM Forum. “These are exactly the kinds of issues that TM Forum aims to resolve by facilitating meaningful collaboration between our members, particularly with the Catalyst program. This project in particular brings together several key players to demonstrate an algorithmic approach to increase the speed, scale, and accuracy of finding and remediating previously unknown issues.”

“We believe that Big Data will form the basis for differentiation and growth for many organizations,” said JL Valente, Cisco vice president, cloud and virtualization group. “For service providers, Big Data opens opportunities to better serve their customers, anticipate service and infrastructure issues, and meet their SLAs.”

“We–re excited to add our operational analytics to this TM Forum Catalyst, finding failures and impacts earlier across underlay and overlay,” stated Mike Silvey, Executive Vice President for Moogsoft. “Ingesting open, live event data feeds across underlay and SDN/NFV overlay infrastructure, and automatically detecting incidents in real time without preset models of infrastructure behavior, sets the stage for new era of service assurance as this market evolves.”

Moogsoft–s Incident.MOOG is a next-generation manager of managers (MoM), automating incident management through patented machine learning analytics supporting collaborative remediation. The software reduces the number of actionable events that need to be handled, accelerating problem resolution, increasing service quality and reducing costs. Incident.MOOG is designed for virtual networking and computing, as well as cloud services, including OpenStack and virtualized services delivered with NFV.
