HomeGrid Forum Shows Off 4K HDTV In-Home Delivery and the Multifaceted Use of G.hn at Computex 2015

TAIPEI, TAIWAN — (Marketwired) — 06/02/15 —

HomeGrid Forum to showcase 4K HDTV as delivered across Asia

HomeGrid press conference will spotlight new certified products, demonstrating the multi-vendor, multi-source, multi-wire capability of G.hn

Booth G0528, Hall 3 at the Taipei TWTC Hall 3 will show large-scale networks — multi-room, multi-node and multicast G.hn over Coax, Powerline, Phoneline and Plastic Optical fiber

Smart home network convergence demo will feature an i-Family smart home management system

A host of HomeGrid Forum members are lined up at Computex 2015 to show the pace of development and deployment the technology is now enjoying. Vendors and silicon companies from around the globe are converging on Taipei to demonstrate a wide range of applications over every wired medium in the home.

Fielding the largest number of HomeGrid G.hn participants ever brought together at an event, the HomeGrid Forum booth (No.: G0528, in Hall 3 at the TWTC) includes ARRIS, Comtrend, D-Link, Institute for Information Industry of Taiwan (III), Marvell, Metanoia, Prime Electronics & Satellitics, SendTek, Sigma Designs, Suttle, Tecom, Teleconnect, Xingtera, and Zinwell. A comprehensive range of demonstrations over coax, powerline, phoneline and plastic optical fiber will show that G.hn is the most versatile in-home technology and delivers high quality content at gigabit speeds throughout the home.

Key demonstrations on show for the first time in Asia include 4K HDTV in-home delivery over powerline, demonstrated by ARRIS and a Smart TV manufacturer — the first in the world to have a built-in G.hn chip. This powerline version of G.hn is truly a –plug and play– technology for the Smart TV — customers can simply plug these smart TVs into an AC outlet to get both electrical power and access to the Internet, making it a true “smart home entertainment center” for services including education, health, shopping, games and many others.

Large scale networks will also be a feature of the HomeGrid booth, demonstrating how multi-room, multi-node, multicast networks can be delivered. In addition a demonstration of smart home network convergence will be featured, sponsored by Taiwan–s III, a long-time supporter of G.hn and a key member of the board of HomeGrid Forum. The demonstration will include an i-Family smart home management system that shows that G.hn has also made the transition to converge with wireless technologies within the home.

A press conference, to be held on the second day of the event Wednesday, 3rd June at 10.00, will announce the results of HomeGrid Forum and Allion Labs– latest Compliance and Interoperability testing program. Several companies have been successful in certifying products and this will be announced at the event.

“In Taiwan last year we promised that we would have major deployments within the year,” says Donna Yasay, HomeGrid Forum–s President. “This year, more than ever, we have so much to show the public and the industry. Services are now up and running bringing gigabit speeds to in-home networks across Asia.”
