SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwire) — 07/29/11 — Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) — a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions — today announced the company-s FortiMail messaging security appliance has been awarded its 13th Virus Bulletin certification in the VBSpam Awards.
Virus Bulletin staff tested FortiMail along with 17 other antispam products from multiple countries for spam catch rates and false positive rates. In addition to winning its 13th consecutive award, the report noted that FortiMail was “one of just four products that did not block any legitimate emails.”
“Virus Bulletin really turned up the heat up on their benchmark tests this month, sending 20,000 spam messages a day to the email devices under test. Even with the increased volume, FortiMail performed like a champ, catching 99.79% of the spam emails sent to it,” said Patrick Bedwell, vice president of product marketing for Fortinet. “As Virus Bulletin mentioned in its report, 13 is no unlucky number for us. We-re eagerly looking forward to September-s test, which plans to include newsletter filtering, to demonstrate FortiMail-s versatility.”
