REDWOOD SHORES, CA — (Marketwire) — 07/28/11 — Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL)
Oracle has provided a comprehensive platform for electronic health records, including , , multiple , , and several components of , such as , and as part of the Accenture (NYSE: ACN) consortium to support the Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH) Singapore-s launch of one of the world-s first national electronic health record (NEHR) systems.
Oracle Consulting brought its global healthcare domain and technology expertise to assist in the implementation of the Oracle products and contribute to the success of the NEHR.
Aligned to Singapore-s “one Singaporean, one health record” vision, the NEHR enables a single patient health record for clinicians to access across the healthcare continuum.
As patients visit providers — including primary care clinics, acute and community hospitals — healthcare professionals will be able to access a single patient record for medical information. The NEHR captures medical data, including patient demographics, diagnosis, medications, tests, procedures and discharge summaries, for exchange among clinicians.
The technology deployment for Singapore-s NEHR is the first phase of the broader effort and was accomplished in only 10 months. The NEHR is designed to improve the quality of healthcare for citizens, lower the costs of health services, and promote more effective health policies. Patients also benefit from proper right-sited care, disease management and cost savings, as duplicate or unnecessary tests are eliminated and medication errors are reduced.
“Our goal is for all Singapore health organizations to have real-time clinical information for treating patients,” said Dr. Sarah Muttitt, Chief Information Officer, MOH Holdings. “This milestone represents a significant step towards achieving our vision.”
“Singapore-s -one Singaporean, one health record- initiative stands to have a significant positive impact on the quality and cost-effectiveness of medical care in the county,” said Mehdi Khaled, M.D., vice president, Healthcare and Life Sciences APAC and Chief Medical Officer, Oracle. “The Oracle-based NEHR is key to delivering the on-demand access and visibility to timely patient data that healthcare providers need to make informed and prudent clinical decisions.”
“The NEHR — built on Oracle Healthcare Transaction Base, Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware — serves as the foundation for Singapore-s national electronic health record initiative and its larger vision for improving the quality and effectiveness of healthcare delivery. Deployment of phase one of the robust electronic health record platform in just 10 months highlights the flexibility of the Oracle solutions and the value they deliver,” said Neil de Crescenzo, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Health Sciences.
