BOSTON, MA — (Marketwired) — 04/08/15 — Enterprise mobile collaboration leader today released a new report titled, “.” The report reveals the most popular mobile behaviors across Microsoft collaboration tools such as Office 365, SharePoint, Yammer and OneDrive. The report provides key insights on enablement for the growing mobile workforce (estimated to surpass 1.3 billion in 2015 according to ), including the fact that businesses are rapidly moving to the cloud and adopting Microsoft Office 365.
The report was based on usage and activity analysis across 1,500 business users from 800 companies in more than 75 countries using , which brings together Microsoft document sharing and social applications into a single-screen experience on iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10 platforms. Analysis incorporated type and frequency of mobile business activities across Microsoft collaborations tools including: document access; search and favoriting of content, people and sites; accessing colleague profiles on SharePoint; following activity stream updates; adding new SharePoint sites; and participating in Yammer discussions.
Accelerated Office 365 Adoption
There was an increase in adoption of mobile Office 365 — 24 percent of harmon.ie Mobile users are now using mobile Office 365 in the cloud, compared to 18 percent just six months ago. This reveals a consistent adoption growth of 33 percent for the period.
Cloud-Based Document Collaboration Is King, Social Still Sporadic
As businesses migrate to the mobile cloud, seamless document collaboration — allowing employees to access and collaborate on documents offline and online across Microsoft tools — is the top business activity on mobile devices. The report also found that the most popular activity conducted by business users on mobile devices was online and offline document access, representing the overwhelming majority — 81 percent — of all activities conducted by workers.
Document access across Microsoft applications was followed by adding a SharePoint site by seven percent of users, and favoriting a document for offline access by four percent. Only three percent of users conducted document searches.
Less than two percent of the sample worker pool participated in Yammer discussions, viewed activity streams or looked up a colleague–s SharePoint profile.
Comparing the number of Yammer discussion contributions to opened documents, business users opened documents 68 times more often than they participated in Yammer discussions.
The most popular days of the week for opening SharePoint or Office 365 documents are Monday and Tuesday.
In Businesses, iOS 10 Times More Popular Than Android
Based on analysis of documents opened, iOS is more popular by a factor of at least 10 times over Android on a monthly basis.
The most used mobile device for document access is the iPad, followed by Apple–s iPhone, then by Android phones.
The most popular device manufacturers are: Apple in the lead, followed by Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony and Motorola.
