REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwire) — 07/27/11 — , the leader in zero client , today announced Broward County Water and Wastewater Services has deployed the Pano System to replace PCs in its facilities. Pano Logic has enabled Broward WWS to eliminate time-consuming computer maintenance with centralized virtual desktop computing, which has reduced labor and repair costs, slashed energy consumption and improved security.
Broward County Water and Wastewater Services provides retail water distribution and wastewater collection. The Broward WWS IT division supports more than 400 users and 600 PCs across four treatment and distribution facilities, an administration complex and several utility warehouses.
Following a successful server virtualization initiative, Broward WWS extended virtualization to its desktop computers. Before Pano Logic, it could take Broward WWS days to provision a PC from its warehouse and deploy it to the end user. Additionally, the IT division was spending an unnecessary amount of time traveling to trouble-shoot problem-plagued PCs.
“The labor required to deploy and maintain the desktops was our primary driver for switching to virtualization, but we also required the flexibility to be free from any specific platform,” said Patrick Ellis, IT director, Broward County Water and Wastewater Services. “We looked at different solutions, but only Pano Logic could deliver on both IT requirements, while also reducing energy consumption and increasing security.”
Pano Logic zero client desktop virtualization has no processor, no operating system, no storage, nor any moving parts. Pano Logic devices only consume 5 watts of energy because they have no moving parts, which reduced the energy consumption of Broward WWS by 95 percent. Additionally, Broward WWS found that Pano Logic was easy to secure and backup, reducing malware-related support issues and making recovery of user files faster.
“Organizations have grown tired of being shackled to the endless management nightmare of desktop computing,” said John Kish, CEO, Pano Logic. “Intelligent IT departments like Broward Water and Wastewater Services realize the computer has degenerated to become a consumption point and that adding a processor and memory to the endpoint also add cost and complexity.”
Broward WWS has deployed 150 Pano devices at its main facility and across remote stations. In the future, Broward WWS plans to extend the implementation with 150 more devices into its call centers.
Pano Logic is the leader in Zero Client Desktop Computing. Pano Logic-s all-in-one hardware and software solution — Pano System — redefines the delivery and management of end user computing by radically centralizing desktop management. The Pano Logic zero client platform is a complete end-to-end solution purpose-built for desktop virtualization, simplifying the complexity and management of virtual desktops and slashing TCO by as much as 80 percent. The patent-pending Pano Direct technology eliminates the need for costly processing power at the endpoint, making it possible to have an endpoint device that contains NO processor, NO operating system, NO memory, NO drivers, NO firmware, NO software, NOR any moving parts, completely eliminating endpoint management and security breaches, while slashing energy consumption by 95 percent as compared to a PC. The Pano generation of computing, built for virtualization, can plug and play into 99 percent of all hypervisor infrastructures, including VMware, Microsoft HyperV and Citrix XenDesktop.
