SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 02/25/15 — The , a community-led and industry-supported open source platform to advance Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), is hosting its first in India to fuel collaboration between the networking industry, users and open source communities on the OpenDaylight SDN platform. The growth of the OpenDaylight community coupled with widespread interest in advancing open source SDN and NFV in India presents an opportunity to host the forum in Bengaluru on April 22-23, 2015.
India–s digital infrastructure is being developed at a tremendous pace. For instance, the number of mobile internet users is expected to increase by 40 million over a six-month period according to a by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB International. The study also indicates that the data usage spend increased by 36 percent. This and other trends are prompting service providers and enterprises to consider SDN and NFV to build flexible networks that can handle the growing demands of customers.
The OpenDaylight Forum India is an opportunity for users to connect directly with the people who are creating the industry–s leading open source SDN platform and learn how it can be integrated into their own networks.
The two-day forum is for beginners to advanced veterans and includes technical presentations on the latest version of OpenDaylight called Helium, as well as ongoing design and development topics around the release under construction called Lithium. The event is also an opportunity to engage and network with the users and open source communities for cross-pollination of ideas and technologies.
“Delivering an industry-wide platform for software-defined networks is not something any one company can do alone. It requires collaboration on a mass scale,” said Neela Jacques, executive director, OpenDaylight. “What we need are open source communities collaborating with users and suppliers to tackle the networking infrastructure issues we all face. Our community is eager to collaborate with and learn from the organizations in India so we can resolve this together.”
