Awards Season Is About More Than Oscars and Grammys

PHOENIX, AZ — (Marketwired) — 02/18/15 — And the Oscar for Best Picture goes to… no one. At least not until that coveted envelope is opened on stage at the Dolby Theatre on February 22. As the awards season nears its annual peak, culminating with the 87th Academy Awards, this is also the time of year when a host of additional awards are bestowed on companies, too — including those helping brands promote their online content via search engine optimization, or SEO.

Last month, , a content marketing firm and creator of a content-creation and digital publishing platform, nominated conversion-based digital marketing firm as a leader in search engine optimization in a survey that rounded up the top 30 companies in the industry.

“This is an honor for Digital Current, our hardworking staff, and by extension, our clients who benefit from our SEO and multiplatform content marketing strategies,” said Jarrod Hunt, Digital Current–s Chief Marketing Officer. “In the last several years, search engine optimization has literally been optimized. The technique has matured from a type of digital Mad Libs where keywords were clumsily inserted into online content in an effort to impact search engine algorithms and page rankings. But as search engines have smartened up — by starting to analyze content quality — SEO IQ has risen too.”

The 30 companies recognized by Readz (and one that earned honorable mention) spanned a diverse set, ranging from startups as far away as Sofia, Bulgaria, and Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, to Boise, Idaho, and Phoenix, Arizona, right in Digital Current–s backyard. But no matter where a company landed on the list, all are dedicated to the task of promoting SEO–s increasing content marketing value. Already of marketers employ SEO tactics, and the North American industry is valued at over $20 billion and is on pace to reach $30 billion in the not too distant future, according to a joint report by Econsultancy and SEMPO, the world–s largest nonprofit trade organization serving the search and digital marketing industry. In 2004, the North American search-engine-marketing industry was valued at $4.1 billion. In only a decade the industry has grown about 554 percent.

Of course, SEO–s value isn–t just about where your brand lands on a Google search. It–s about what consumers do once they discover your brand and the content you have to offer. Without high conversion and engagement rates, brands still haven–t done their SEO jobs right. Considering that fewer than of U.S. online consumers trust print advertisements and even less trust digital content, SEO and content marketing firms have plenty of work cut out for them in the ongoing efforts to attract, retain, and engage customers. But when an industry grows more than 500 percent, chances are that companies like Digital Current are doing something right.
