STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — (Marketwired) — 02/03/15 — Today at Sweden–s largest developer conference, , Trillian Mobile and LodgON announced its partnership to make it easier for the more than 10 million Java developers worldwide to create powerful mobile applications for iOS and Android operating systems. Trillian Mobile focuses on RoboVM, an open source Java Virtual Machine technology for mobile application development. LodgON is a Java technology solutions provider specializing in JavaFX on mobile. “We are extremely happy to announce that we are collaborating with Johan and LodgON,” said Niklas Therning, Head Geek at Trillian Mobile, creator of RoboVM.
“For JavaFX to be successful on mobile it must work equally well on iOS. Partnering with the Trillian Mobile team to bring JavaFX to both Android and iOS feels natural,” said Johan Vos, CTO at LodgON. “For the first time, developers can now use Java and JavaFX to develop once and deploy both to the desktop and to any Android or iOS mobile device.”
The partnership leverages both companies– successes. Trillian Mobile enabled mobile app developers to publish over 100 apps in the iOS stores since 2013 via their iOS JVM called RoboVM; many of them built using open source libGDX technology, a popular cross-platform game development framework.
Trillian Mobile is seeing an expansion of business-oriented apps among clients using RoboVM–s bindings to Apple–s native iOS APIs to build truly native apps. Last year, Mario Zechner, founder of libGDX, joined the RoboVM team at Trillian Mobile. With LodgON now partnering with Trillian Mobile we are in an even stronger position to further app development beyond the game development world and allow businesses around the world to start developing cross-platform apps using Java and other JVM languages such as Scala, Groovy and Kotlin.
Trillian Mobile and LodgOn are bringing JavaFX to both iOS and Android, enable developers to:
Create true cross-platform mobile apps for iOS and Android
Share business logic code across all platforms via RoboVM and Dalvik
Share user interface code across all platforms via JavaFX 8
Access native APIs on both iOS and Android
Publish to the iOS App Store as well as Google Play and other Android stores
LodgON is a Java technology company that enables companies and organizations to get the maximum out of their IT projects. LodgON focuses on Java Enterprise Applications using Java EE 7 technologies, and on Java Client Applications using JavaFX. The combination of Java Enterprise and Client Applications leads to cost-efficient, scalable, performant and maintainable solutions.
Trillian Mobile–s core technology, RoboVM, was created in 2010 as an Open Source project. RoboVM–s mission is to turn 10 million Java developers into business and consumer mobile app developers for both iOS and Android devices. RoboVM–s robust platform will allow the use of any Java-based language to create truly native iOS and Android apps, allowing code to be shared between the iOS and Android versions of an app, greatly reducing time and development costs. The founders– first Java foray, , a cloud-based spam protection app for all devices, has amassed 20,000 customers. Trillian Mobile is privately held and headquartered in Göteberg, Sweden. Sales of commercial licenses and support packages for RoboVM will begin in Q1 2015.
