BOSTON, MA — (Marketwired) — 01/20/15 — , the industry–s leading provider of next-generation search and online media experiences, today announced it has been selected by to be its media content platform, helping NURAY–s broadcast customers easily search and find thousands of video archives that have been newly digitized by NURAY.
Ramp–s MediaCloud solution generates time-coded text transcripts and metadata from video content, delivering a complete time-coded transcript, tag set, and dynamic thumbnail images for video assets. The rich metadata created by MediaCloud enables users to search across the otherwise inaccessible spoken word within video or audio content.
NURAY Digital–s customers include broadcast stations, such as WRAL in Raleigh, NC, for whom NURAY is digitizing 17,000 hours of archived news content. Now with the addition of Ramp–s solution NURAY Digital can make these digitized archives discoverable, with the customer now able to search for specific topical keywords or phrases mentioned within their catalog of past interviews with politicians, sports legends or local figures, and then make this content available to viewers online and on social media.
Before this combination of NURAY and Ramp technology, looking for these old videos was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Broadcast stations typically have rooms full of old video content catalogued only by title or date, making finding content for a specific topic or interview from a certain date in time nearly impossible to track down. Now with NURAY and Ramp, media content can be easily searched, and past footage can be found by an editor in seconds.
“We looked at many vendors in search and online media to find the right partner who could give our customers the ability to easily search and find specific footage once we digitize it for them,” said Rick Ray, Chairman of NURAY Digital. “Ramp easily provided the fastest, most accurate, automatic metadata generation possible, which makes our clients– digital content even more valuable. We–re excited about this collaboration, and the ability for our clients to now easily find long lost content and interviews to share with their viewers, and provide them with another revenue stream for monetizing their media content.”
“NURAY Digital is doing some really exciting things for the broadcast industry,” said Tom Wilde, CEO of Ramp. “Digitizing content from TV stations gives those businesses the chance to preserve long lost interviews and important newscasts and share them with the world. We–re excited to partner with NURAY to make this content discoverable and easily searchable by editors and producers, and look forward to working with the NURAY team as they help both the broadcast and film industry convert thousands of important video archives to digital files.”
Ramp was recently placed in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Video Content Management, on the strength of its native integration to enterprise CMS systems like Microsoft SharePoint.
