The Army National Guard has served the United States in war and peacetime for nearly 400 years, with duties ranging from combat overseas to domestic relief in the event of disaster. With many personnel serving on a part-time basis, rapid and comprehensive communication of information to relevant individuals regardless of location is essential to fulfilling the responsibilities of the National Guard. Camp Atterbury, Indiana Army National Guard
Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, Mississippi National Guard
Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania Army National Guard
In all, more than 14,000 personnel, their families and civilians will be served by the new AtHoc IWSAlerts system. It will allow base officials to quickly communicate deployment orders via text, phone and desktop notifications, as well as to rapidly notify personnel and civilians of emergency situations. Moreover, it fulfills Department of Defense (DoD) personnel accountability requirements by allowing recipients to respond to notification to acknowledge receipt and provide additional relevant information in the event of a crisis.
