SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/15/14 — , pioneer of the cloud-based virtualized packet core (vEPC) solution for mobile networks, continued to lead the industry transformation to network functions virtualization (NFV) in 2014 with a live deployment in Telekom Austria–s Croatia network. Connectem–s unique, mobile workload-centric architecture topped the RFI/RFP evaluation list for multiple carriers, laying a foundation for 2015 deployments.
Connectem achieved an industry first in June this year, with the live deployment of its virtual evolved packet core (vEPC) solution after completing Telekom Austria Group–s NFV proof of concept in a live production network for their Croatian subsidiary, Vipnet. Telekom Austria Group has referred to NFV as –the networking declaration of independence–(1) and has described the Connectem vEPC as successfully delivering independent scaling, with built-in performance, elasticity, high availability and security. As 2014 closes, Connectem continues to deepen and expand its engagement with the operator.

In its engagements with Tier 1 operators, Connectem has demonstrated unprecedented performance and linear scaling across multiple servers for large mobile workloads. The solution allows straightforward mapping of the workload into computing units and therefore frees the operator from rigid inventory management. The company also highlights the ability of its VCM platform to enable “any-size” networking. Any-size networking becomes a new tool in mobile operators– portfolios as they create offerings for industry segments that require elastic, private wireless communication capabilities. Such use cases are typically not well served because of traditional vendors– inability to scale down their nodes and costs for smaller networks.
