cape IT makes the shortly published OTRS 4.0 to the basis of the own open source product KIX4OTRS in the version 7. The improvements of the framework target at visualisation and operability of the service processing. It confirms the direction aimed by the cape IT within improvements of usability in the IT, customer and technical service. KIX4OTRS 7 will be presented during the CeBIT 2015.
At the same time, cape IT extends the time frames for support of own products for older OTRS versions. cape IT also speeds up the release cycle. Until end of 2014, cape IT supports KIX4OTRS in the current and previous version within last two OTRS frameworks (example: KIX4OTRS 5.1 for OTRS 3.2, KIX4OTRS 6.0 & 6.1 for OTRS 3.3). Versions x.0 are simply ported versions of KIX4OTRS for a new OTRS framework. Versions x.1 include new features and are compatible to a relevant OTRS framework.
Planned is to support 3 latest versions of KIX4OTRS (example: KIX4OTRS 5.1 for OTRS 3.2, KIX4OTRS 6.1 for OTRS 3.3 and KIX4OTRS 7 for OTRS 4.0). It accommodates wishes of the community for continuity and sustainability of the open source solution.
Additionally, cape IT plans to speed up the release cycles for bugfixes (planed is to publish bugfixes in a first week of a month, compared to the two-month-cycle up to the end of 2014). The feature releases are planned at least once a year and will as always include improvements for community and customers.
KIX4OTRS became worldwide most extended module for OTRS and has been installed in more than 2.500 systems. It goes beyond the classic use of IT service management and combines elements practically proven in the customer care and technical/medical service as well as service processing in the sense of industry 4.0. Its openness and flexibility keep the tradition that cape IT started as a software vendor years ago.
