MENLO PARK, CA — (Marketwired) — 12/05/14 — Delphix, the market leader in virtual data as a service (vDaaS), announced today that its customer, the California Insurance Guarantee Association (CIGA), has been named by Frost & Sullivan as a winner of the 2014 CIO IMPACT Award in the category of Advanced Software Development. This award recognizes leaders that are enabling breakthrough new business models and strategies through the innovative use of transformative technologies.
“Frost & Sullivan is proud to honor the 44 companies that have won prestigious CIO IMPACT Awards for 2015,” said Jeff Moad, Research Director at Frost & Sullivan. “These visionary leaders are successfully leveraging emerging technologies not just to automate and streamline existing processes but to forge entirely new, disruptive business models. We salute their impressive achievements.”
To comply with , CIGA must resolve insolvencies within 45 days, meaning that it–s incredibly important for CIGA to be able to ingest data as quickly as possible from member insurance companies. If CIGA is not able to award insurance benefits on time, they face penalties, so time to market is critical. CIGA must be ready at all times with an environment available to test and merge data, while minimizing the risk of duplicating claims.
If CIGA had approached this challenge by hosting the data in physical environments, they would have experienced significant environment sprawl, with an environment for each ongoing insolvency as well as a production environment.
The initiative at hand was to address environment sprawl, manage the constant onslaught of new data, and reduce the labor costs necessary to maintain various environments. CIGA CTO Feroz Merchhiya recognized the opportunity to virtualize, provision with self-service, and refresh data quickly and efficiently with the Delphix Agile Data Platform. The Delphix data management platform has become an enterprise solution that supports CIGA–s critical business applications, core claims management system, content management and imaging system, and business intelligence operations.
“In selecting Delphix as its enterprise standard for data management, CIGA is able to minimize the time for data refreshes and enable teams to work in parallel, instead of sequentially, thus improving overall productivity and efficiency, and reducing costs,” said Rick Caccia, VP of Strategy and Marketing at Delphix. “Feroz is able to streamline the extraction and data management process and enable technical developers to perform various data management tasks. This includes creating their own extracts to meet their specific needs — reducing the wait time and back-and-forth between teams. Additionally, Feroz was able to reduce data storage requirements to only two terabytes of storage for the refreshes instead of the anticipated 12 terabytes, for an estimated savings of ten thousand dollars per year.”
Winners of the 2015 CIO Impact Awards will be honored at a gala event on February 10, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, California, in association with the 3rd Annual ConNEXTions 2015: A Frost & Sullivan Executive MindXchange.
The CIO Impact Awards honor enterprise teams and individuals that are enabling breakthrough new business models and strategies through the innovative use of transformative technologies. Each nomination is entered into one of eight technology-specific categories and evaluated by a panel of expert Frost & Sullivan judges. All eight categories are for outstanding projects completed by an enterprise IT team. CIO Impact Award winners are those projects receiving the highest scores from the judges.
