University of Missouri Adopts the iclicker2 2nd Generation Classroom Response System

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 07/18/11 — University of Missouri has selected iclicker2 as its centrally supported classroom response system. Starting in fall 2011, iclicker2 will provide the University-s instructors and students with its reliable, simple and robust polling solution to increase interactivity and advance learning.

With increased functionality, the newly enhanced iclicker2 remote opens up new possibilities for classroom interaction with full alphanumeric functionality and an LCD screen. Keeping the philosophy of a simple and pedagogical experience front and center, the iclicker2 bolsters the active learning experience for students and meets the needs of instructors in a wider range of disciplines and with varied teaching styles.

Last fall, University of Missouri held a number of focus groups resulting in an overwhelming response that they needed to look into a more robust and reliable system. A technology sub-committee evaluated three top classroom response systems and almost unanimously chose iclicker2. They concluded that iclicker2 provided the simplest system, was feature-rich and flexible, reliable, and offered ease of training.

“A few years ago, we made the decision to standardize under one clicker system, but were recently having issues with software glitches and training,” said Guy Wilson, PhD, Educational Technologies Specialist, University of Missouri. “We wanted a robust system and liked iclicker2-s alphanumeric functionality and the substantial feel of the iclicker2-s physical remote. We selected iclicker2 for its simple, more intuitive software and the short learning curve. In speaking to other universities using iclicker, we were impressed that we could get faculty up and running in 15 minutes.”

According to Troy Williams, a vice president at global publisher Macmillan and general manager of Macmillan New Ventures, the division that includes iclicker, “Our mission is to create products with superior reliability and ease-of-use that engage students and help them play an active role in their own learning. And, because iclicker is so simple to set up and use, faculty can focus on instruction and assessment so they can better teach every student.”
