Worries About Negative Video Games Inspire Family to Create Mobile Game to Offer Kids Kindness, Anti-Bullying, and Doing Good

WAYNE, PA — (Marketwired) — 11/18/14 — Gregory Hansell–s three year old daughter, Tabitha, loves playing mobile games. But Hansell worried what Tabitha would absorb as she grew older. So together with his parents, Ray and MarySue Hansell, Gregory is creating the kid-friendly mobile game, A Better World for Kids.

A Better World for Kids helps kids make a difference by encouraging kindness, helpfulness, and doing good. The tablet game teaches good choices and encourages values long associated with the holiday season, like gratitude and giving, as well as concerns that kids face today, like anti-bullying, recycling, and healthy eating.

The Hansells have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund the production and distribution of , which is now live. The campaign aims to raise $200,000.

In A Better World for Kids, kids can decorate a house, dress up in cool clothes, adopt pets, and get a job, just like Mom and Dad! Jobs will be based on gameplay kids know and love such as building, cooking, puzzles, and more.

A Better World for Kids is about breaking the boundary between the real world and virtual world. Children aren–t just spending time behind a screen; the game encourages them to go out in the world and do good. Parents can also submit real world household chores for their children which earns them Do-Good Gold in the game.

In partnership with #GivingTuesday, Raymond and MarySue Hansell, A Better World–s CEO and COO, have created the MeeMee and Peeps Match (named after the nicknames their grandchildren call them). Ray and MarySue promise to personally donate a 10% match of every contribution made to the A Better World for Kids Indiegogo campaign to two charities, up to $10,000 total. Half of the donations will support not-for-profit Convoy of Hope–s feedONE initiative that feeds children around the world. Other donations will support Operation Warm, a nonprofit that brings happiness and warmth to children in need by providing them with brand new winter coats.

Ray and MarySue will donate regardless of whether the campaign meets its goal and is fully funded. Additionally, after the mobile game is developed and released, A Better World for Kids promises to donate 10% of net profits to additional charities that help children around the world.

Parents and educators can pay it forward this holiday season by backing this campaign and helping to make it A Better World for Kids. Go to to learn more.
