SEATTLE, WA — (Marketwired) — 10/28/14 — , the leading European provider of open source IT infrastructure management solutions, today announced that Fujitsu has certified various server systems from the PRIMERGY range for use with Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 3.2. These include the tower servers PRIMERGY TX150 S8 and PRIMERGY TX2540 M1, and the rack servers PRIMERGY RX200 S8 and PRIMERGY RX300 S8. The servers are certified for UCS 3.2 (64-bit), including virtualization with XEN and KVM. With this new certification, Fujitsu and Univention can now offer SMEs, and public institutions in particular, reliable and high-performance server platforms optimized for Univention Corporate Server.

Univention Corporate Server is a standardized Open Source infrastructure solution. The integrated identity and infrastructure management system differentiates UCS from other operating systems. With this system, UCS is optimally suited for provisioning infrastructure services as well as for the central, cross-location and cross-platform administration of virtualized server and desktop systems. In addition, UCS offers comprehensive Active Directory functions and an App Center for the integration and central management of enterprise applications.

UCS offers companies and public institutions a platform for web-based IT management. It can be employed in any size organization. The product can be used as a classic server solution, in the cloud or in hybrid IT environments. It can be operated as a component for existing Microsoft infrastructures and supports the simple replacement of Microsoft Windows domains.

The Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX150 S8 is the perfect system for SMEs and for virtualized environments. The Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX2540 M1 can be equipped with up to two processors. The system combines low cost with balanced expandability.

Two PRIMERGY rack servers have also been approved for use with UCS. The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX300 S8 also boasts two CPU sockets. It is optimized for all types of business applications and offers requisite versatility and scalability.

“With Univention Corporate Server there is now a cost-effective solution available to companies that is easy to implement and administrate,” said Dr. Alexander Keller, Head of Product Management for Software and Solutions at Fujitsu. “UCS is perfect for use on individual PRIMERGY servers as well as for large, distributed IT infrastructures and virtualized environments.
