SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/09/14 — QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK)
Partnership enables Smartphones, Tablets and wearable devices using QuickLogic–s sensor hub platforms to function as “smart” TV remotes
Integrated solution provides complete end-to-end OEM solution
QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the innovator of ultra-low power programmable Customer Specific Standard Products (), today announced that it will embed SmartIR technology from smart home control leader Peel into its sensor hub solutions. The partnership will enable smartphones, tablets and wearable devices using QuickLogic–s revolutionary platform to function as smart remote controls.
In addition to delivering the benefits of a remote control, Peel–s technology lets users customize the programming guide to their local TV provider–s channel lineup on their mobile device and track the shows and movies they watch to determine their preferences. Using their viewing habits as a guide, Peel–s integrated app can recommend additional content that users might like.
OEMs using QuickLogic–s ArcticLink 3 S2 sensor hub platform can deliver these features without the need to add an additional chip.
QuickLogic will be integrating Peel–s SmartIR technology into its pre-verified ArcticLink® 3 S2 sensor hub catalog CSSP solution. With this solution, mobile device OEMs who want to provide smart remote functionality get a complete, pre-verified single-chip solution with all necessary drivers and software. The single-chip approach speeds development time while reducing bill of material (BOM) costs and total device power consumption.
“Peel is the market leader in bringing smart home control to mobile devices. Our partnership will bring tremendous value to the mobile market by providing a complete solution for OEMs,” said Andy Pease, President and CEO of QuickLogic.
“We are excited to announce our partnership with QuickLogic as their unique, ultra-low power sensor hub capability combined with their hardware flexibility enables delivery of an end-to-end OEM solution that can be quickly translated into real differentiation and value in the mobile device marketplace,” said Bala Krishnan, founder and chief product officer of Peel.
