(arvato Systems) Gütersloh – The systems integrator arvato Systems and the GUS Group will be entering into close collaboration in the pharmaceutical field in the future. As part of the partnership, arvato Systems is providing the arvato Corporate Serialization Database (arvato CSDB) solution for implementing the serialization requirements established in the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (Directive 2011/62/EU). The GUS Group will be augmenting this solution with its range of products and services from the GUS-OS Suite for the pharmaceuticals industry.
Drug safety and counterfeit medications are currently important topics in the pharmaceuticals industry. An end-to-end verification process is therefore set to solve the problem of an increasing number of counterfeit medications in the EU by 2018. The pharmaceuticals industry will then be under obligation to generate a unique serial number and print it on the boxes of medicinal products. The serial number must also be stored in accordance with the highest security standards, a process that is only possible using IT.
OCS and arvato Systems have developed the arvato CSDB solution that allows pharmaceutical companies to meet the upcoming requirements of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive along the entire production and supply chain, and consistently integrate them into their production processes.
The Cologne-based GUS Group, one of the leading providers of ERP applications, offers an ERP solution as a platform for all processes in the industrial fields of pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, biotechnology, medicine, cosmetics, and logistics. Its solution enables the GUS Group to serve as a successful partner to the sensitive pharmaceutical industry, where product quality and process reliability take priority. “arvato CSDB and our strategic partnership with the company allow us to expand our range of products and services in the pharmaceutical sector,” explains Jörg Paul Zimmer, Director of Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals at GUS Deutschland GmbH. Peter Koop, Director of Pharmaceutical Solutions at arvato Systems, adds, “We are delighted to now be able to offer a sustainable industry solution in arvato CSDB with the GUS Group. Alongside the vital contribution towards combating falsified medicine, we also believe there is massive potential for serialization in supply chain optimization, which we are looking to tap with our customers and the GUS Group.”
Successful presentation of the integrated system at the GUS customer event, with next joint event planned for October in Berlin, Germany
At this year’s GUS customer event, arvato Systems and the GUS Group used live demonstrations to present the IT solution to a large group of customers. The next arvato Systems event, entitled ‘Serialization in the Pharmaceuticals Industry: Best Practices for the Future,’ is being held in conjunction with the GUS Group in Berlin on 21 October 2014.
