Media Alert: LinuxCon + CloudOpen + ELC Europe Combine Keynotes, Technical Sessions and Social Networking Opportunities

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/02/14 — The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux and collaborative development, today is releasing a preview of onsite activities, keynotes, co-located events and more taking place at LinuxCon + CloudOpen + Embedded Linux Conference (ELC) Europe, October 13-15, 2014 at the Congress Centre, Düsseldorf, Germany.

The speakers and sessions planned for this year–s events showcase how leaders in diverse industries are using the power of open source and collaboration to innovate and advance technology for all. LinuxCon + CloudOpen + ELC Europe are unique in the region for providing a neutral forum where the leading minds in Linux and open source can come together to advance technologies in a variety of areas, including healthcare, manufacturing, and data science.

“People want to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and the opportunities that Linux and open source software represent for the future of technology naturally bring people together in collaboration,” said Amanda McPherson, chief marketing officer, The Linux Foundation. “LinuxCon, CloudOpen and Embedded Linux Conference Europe provide the forum for this meeting of the minds and work to be done. Because this work is driven by people and people like to have fun, we also offer a variety of activities that encourage networking and more opportunities to talk about projects.”

This year–s LinuxCon + CloudOpen + ELC Europe events introduce new evening social activities to complement technical content and leading keynote speakers. Highlights include:

Joining us to welcome our new attendees will be some key contributors to the Linux community.

Monday, October 13 – 7:00pm-9:30pm

Hafenstraße 5, 40213 Düsseldorf

Open to speakers, media and sponsors, the opening night VIP reception offers beer, wine and dinner at the Brauerei Zum Schiffchen. Situated in Old Town, it is the oldest restaurant in Düsseldorf and the traditional atmosphere, food and biergarten make it a must-visit. The restaurant was first mentioned in the chronicles of 1628 and Napoleon is among the long list of patrons.

Tuesday, October 14 – 5:30pm-7:00pm

After the final sessions on Tuesday, all attendees are invited to attend an Oktoberfest-themed Booth Crawl with drinks, hors d–oeuvres and more on Level 1 of the Congress Centre Düsseldorf. This is a great time to check out the sponsor showcase and mingle with fellow attendees. The Booth Crawl will also feature a blind taste test between two popular local beers.

Wednesday, October 15 – 7:00pm-10:00pm

Bahnstraße 13, 40212 Düsseldorf

Open to all attendees, the closing night event takes place at Nachtresidenz, an architecturally unique venue in Old Town Düsseldorf.
